Has anyone with a MBP 2011 bought and installed a VERTEX 3 drive yet?
I'm very interested to see what speeds they're obtaining and if they're stable in the MBP.

Check out the SSD subforum under hardware, I'm sure a few users have one. From what I've seen/read and experienced, I would avoid OCZ since they have poor business practices and I wouldn't give them my money. If you're keen on Sandforce drives over Marvell ones (since I've heard of some MBP users having issues with those), I'd wait until another company releases one.

OCZ used to be the WORST company in existence (this was about 10-15 years ago).
But, after being blasted by all the enthusiast sites, reviews etc.. they really cleaned up their act and actually have some decent products (I have several sets of ram from them that never gave me any issues and are still going strong)
That being said.....I would still stay away from their SSD's since (from every user I have talked to and review I have read) they seem to have a higher than average fail rate.
Don't get me wrong... every product and manufacturer will have some duds... but the SSD's from OCZ seem to fail way to often compared to the competitors.

Thanks. I'll check over there!
FWIW, my first OCZ support request didn't go well. I had bought a 240GB Vertex 2 (used) from a senior NBR member on the NBR marketplace. When I received it, it checked out great, and included everything (box, bracket, papers, etc), but oddly, the label on the back of the SSD said it was an Agility 2. The front label said Vertex 2. Neither had been visibly messed with.
I contacted OCZ 4 different times, simply requesting they look up the serial number off the drive and let me know if it's a Vertex2 or an Agility2.
Each and every time, I got a rude, belittling response back claiming OCZ provides no warranty on 2nd hand products and to buy new next time. I wasn't asking for warranty support, merely confirmation of a serial number. Each and every time, I got the same brick wall response from what looked to be teenagers manning the support queue. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed.
So, I've been buying Corsair Force for my clients, instead of OCZ. BUT, I do want a Vertex 3.

What is your boot time from the instant you hear the power-up sound, to the point your desktop appears?
Currently, I have a Samsung 256GB SSD, and my boot time is 14 seconds. (no login password screen) -
about 15 without opening any apps and about 20 seconds opening like 10 apps (login items).

Some very nice numbers. I wish I could get the same numbers on a MBA.
