What's the general consensus on getting a 120GB vertex 3 for a 2010 13" macbook pro?
is this one of the platforms that tends to trigger the sandforce bugs?
Also, i'm aware of the fact that the drive will be limited to SATAII speeds; i honestly don't need 300+ seq speeds.

I can't comment on the Vertex 3, but I currently have a 240 GB Vertex 2 running in my 2012 Summer MBP 13". I did have some troubles trying to update the firmware on the drive by using the mac (Even though OCZ claims to provide a bootable image that works with Macs) so i had to swap out the drive into my Windows laptop to update the firmware to 1.37. Once that was done, I swapped the drive back into the machine, and enabled "TrimEnabler" Currently running without any problems. Hopefully this helps your decision.

You should be good with a Vertex 3 as long as the firmware version is 2.15 or later (which is should be for any drive made in 2012).

I just bought a 2011 13" MBP. First thing I did was pop in 8GB of memory and in went my 120GB Vertex 3. I did update the FW on the Vertex 3 to the latest 2.22 first on my Windows box, but it was running flawlessly on 2.15 in my 2011 Mac Mini which is basically a 13" MBP with a keyboard and screen attached.
I didn't even bother to reload anything on it. Came out of my Mini, updated FW, went into my MBP. It *seems* to boot faster than it did in the Mini - the spinning graphics during boot goes around once and it's on the desktop. -
thanks for the input. its just that the MBP 2011 is fundamentally very different than my MBP 2010 version.
