Sorry for cluttering up the forum with a thread like this; but I wanted to ask, whether the kind of video below is compatible with the iPod Classic.

I know the specifications are posted on the Apple website, but those seem to represent only the threshold of what can be synchronized.

So, the following type of video I *can* import into iTunes; can I sync it with an iPod Classic?

    Format: H.264, 624x464, millions, AAC, Stereo (L R), 48000 kHz

    FPS: 29.97

    Datarate: 750.87 kbits/s

Is it an MP4? I usually convert whatever I want to go onto my iPod to an MP4 using Handbrake. Check it out.

It is an mp4; I suppose h.264 has to be mp4 anyhow, that's why I didn't indicate it.

It was converted with Handbrake; but obviously not on the 'ipod' preset. I'm considering to get an iPod classic *only if* I can import my already encoded dvd archive onto it. I don't want to go through the trouble of converting several dvds again. (It's mostly musical stuff anyhow; so I'm not worried about the ridiculously tiny screen.)

I think any .mp4 video file can be uploaded by itself to iTunes and sync'd with any rather current generation video playing iPod.
