To anyone who has loaded Vista on their bootcamped MacBook Pro:
1. Are there any driver/hardware/software issues that have been discovered?
2. How is the performance? (slower drivers, gaming, etc)
-
yeah any responses to this please?
-
Bumping for answers
-
i'd like answers too.
i'll be receiving my macbook in a couple days.
-
lol count me in.

I've seen a guy using macbook pro with vista in the lecture, so I guess it's possible...

BUMP
I am also very intersted in getting Vista on my Macbook Pro! -
I've heard that it works ok, except there are a few driver issues. I've also heard that 3D games don't work on it as yet.
Keep in mind all this info I'm recalling from things that I've read in the past, so some of it may have been fixed or may not even be an issue at all. -
I am using Vista Ultimate on Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo(2.33GHz) It runs great. Most of feature works including iSight, Bluetooth, Keyboard Backlight and all the funtion keys. There are a couple of drivers still missing though(the remote control and Performance Counter) I think the performance counter has something to do with short battery life. It only last about an hour with Vista running.
I am currently using "Input Remapper" instead of Apple Keyboard Support which comes with BootCamp XP Drivers. I have installed Vista using Vista DVD and the installation went very smoothly. However, I have heard that installing XP first and then upgrading to Vista is a bit easier since you don't need to install the driver separately like I did
Cheers,

A few of the drivers didn't work on mine. And I think the cd eject button wasn't working.
-
I think I'll just wait for the next release of bootcamp.

I find this funny... I want to get a Mac to get away from Windows (particularly Vista), and so many Mac users are interested in running Vista. Maybe not funny, but ironic...
-
look at it this way....it might be the best of both worlds for some ppl.

I only use Windows to play my games and run a select few programs.

I can't say I'm impressed with the way they did gadgets or Aero. Neither are as good (in appearances, I haven't tried it!) in practice as in OS X.
I'd like to try it, and I don't want to try to put it on my server, so my MBP is the only computer I have as an option. And I'm curious how it runs compared to XP in bootcamp.
Not that I would have any interest in either paying for Vista or using it right now. XP is fine for all my gaming needs currently (as is OS X and my 360). -
Since I'll have to purchase Windows to run either bootcamp or parallels, I need to make a decision between XP or Vista. Right now XP is perfectly fine - but for just a few dollars more is Vista worth it in the long run?
BTW, I hate the fact that I have XP on four machines and still have to purchase another copy...but it is what it is... -
I'd say buy the Vista. I heard Parallels is working good with it. Might have to wait for a future bootcamp version to fix the driver issues. That's what I'll be waiting for.

I say ditch windows completely. How liberating...no more blue screens of death.
-
Bootcamp comes in handy when doing IT and supporting labs one lab running OSX and 3 others running Windows. Always nice to have both OS's on one machine.
-
Hrm.. I dunno, I still say don't run Vista now.
I haven't read any reviews that said it's really good. More and more people seem to be dumping Vista and going back to XP.
Keep in mind Vista Basic sucks. It's not really Vista... more like Windows ME.
There was a good article posted on here the other day about switching... good read. "Windows Vista is Windows ME part 2" - favorite quote from that article. :-D -
I say go XP and not Vista. You can buy XP Home now, and get and upgrade disc later, when (or if) it ever becomes stable and usable, and it won't cost much more than getting Vista now.
