    Hi,

After getting my macbook pro in just, latest 13" model with SD card slot, I've been meaning to upgrade the RAM and hard drive in it, as I wasn't willing to pay Apple for the privilage. I've seen a few things like non apple HDDs not being recognised or being slow. I'm just wondering if this is still the case? If I buy a bigger HDD will it work?

Also, does anyone have a pdf manual for VmWare Fusion. I bought it off their site, but for the life of me I can't find a manual, only a starters guide.

    Thanks.

Any 2.5" SATA hdd will work fine, the exception being the new 1TB WD drives which are 12.5mm height (it is unclear which models those might not fit into). You have to reinstall OS X or clone the original hdd over, but that's a trivial matter.

RAM has to be DDR3 1066, any reputable brand will do.

Open vmware fusion, on the menu, click on Help, and then vmware fusion help. There you can also find video tutorials. You'll find everything you'll need there.

Also, I think some 7200rpm hard drive have been exhibiting problems, like clicking noises from the drives parking their thingies to often. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

My existing drive parks its head, but only if I move it a certain amount anyhow, so I'm not that worried about that; its doing its job. Thanks for vmware help, will have a look.
