I was wondering which version of wow is better, I figured I'll install wow on macs os instead of bootcamping windows xp just go have a few games on the laptop.

So I was wondering if wow runs just as well on mac osx compared to xp. Ill be playing it on a macbook prop with 2.4ghz cpu and 2 gigs of ram and 8600 256mb graphic card

Windows. It will run 10-20 fps faster in Windows than OS X. DirectX is much better for gaming than OpenGL.

From all the data I've seen, both are capable of reaching the same Max FPS, but when AA is applied OSX takes a nose dive while Windows XP does much better.

Really, it's only a big deal if you are going to be applying more than 2X AA. Otherwise, support for the Open GL version of WOW (I.E. OSX Version) is steadily improving.

directx is not inherently better than opengl. its more accurate to say that mac osx's implementation of opengl is not as good as the windows version of open gl, especially in games. obviously - the directx render path is only available in windows, and it is comparable to the opengl (windows) render path.

its possible that in WoW in windows, opengl is not as fast as directx. i don't know because i don't play WoW. however, whether or not opengl is inherently better or worse than directx is a very open debate.
