Probably early still, but so far as expected, major news about 64-bit Leopard, Mac Pro, etc...

With all this focus on 64-bit'ness, I'm hoping for something on Merom on the notebooks! Hey, even if I don't NEED 64-bit, it'd be nice to have a machine that's a bit more future-proof this close to Merom wide release. I've got my fingers ready to trigger on a MacBook Pro Merom buy!

Now, traditionally do all the new release information come out on the 1st day or will Apple leak more info on the days to come?

The Intel embargo on information for the Merom and releases is August 28th. As such, Apple will respect that date from Intel before announcing anything.

August 28th eh? Wow, why the relatively long delay given the release of the chip in late July and guys like Dell talking about Core 2 Duo processors in select models?

Guess, Apple will have to wait till Apple Expo in Paris (Sept 11?). ****... :-(

The C2D (Conroe) desktop processor was released July 28th, the mobile (Merom) processor has yet to be released.

Dell isn't really "talking" about it. It's just showing up in leaks. Fujitsu did make an official announcement regarding support for the Core 2 Duo in notebooks but other mfrs. have said they won't say anything because Intel won't let them until the stated dated. I'm sure we'll see fairly immediate availability of Core 2 Duo notebooks from certain mfrs when this Aug. 28th date arrives, there's of course no telling when Apple will say anything after this date -- Paris would be a good guess.

Apparantly from what I have read, Apple has order a ton of Core2Duo processors and will release a Merom MBP sometime in september. I think it comes from Mac-Rumors.

I also believe Apple will offer the MB and MBP simultaneously with the Merom. It simply doesn’t make sense from a business standpoint if they were to hold back from offering the MB with the Merom simply to differentiate the MB from the MBP. Those are two different markets and the competition is with other notebook PC makers.

Thinking about it logically why would Apple want to lose out on $1000-$1500 laptop market for any duration whether a week or a month?

Simply to differentiate the MB from the MBP? I just don’t buy that.

Then again i might be biased because I have made up by mind and I am waiting for a MB w/merom. :D

And Saud what you said seems reasonable about the MB with the T5xxx and the MBP with the T7xx, do you have a link for that? Who knows maybe Apple will further differentiate the MB white from the MB black and issue the MB black with the bottom end of the 4MB Cache Merom (T7200)

    Just my 2 cents

Your forgetting the business standpoint that Apple is trying to adopt more "being affordable", Apple isn't going to leave a group of people out just to be comparible with other PC makers.

I think it's a smart move making the Macbook targeted towards lower income people, and yes Core Duo is a POWERFUL processor, to this day so much of that power still isn't needed yet.

Having the MBP as more of a luxary notebook, for higher income people/enthusiasts. It makes perfect sense.

Apple plans so many things so far in advance its a bit insane, but an awesome trait, but you never know its possible it could happen.

seeing as how the WWDC is a developer's conference, I don't think they would announce any new product upgrades anyway. same with the iPod.
