I think we need to clarify a couple of things/rumors/issues about the new generation of MB/MBP. The main things I have in mind are the ''problems'' from the people saying the aluminium case is causing a bad wireless (and standard internet) emission-reception. Some say it's slow, some say it's not stable, some say both and some say everything's okay with it. That's the type of thing I'd like to clarify before buying. It could be nice to have proofs, not only speculations about these problems.

Mine is fine for the most part, and haven't had much of a problem at all!
The internet is just as fast with my brothers older white MB, with the polycarbonate shell...

I had both the last gen MBP and the unibody MBP and both were fine for wireless networking. Very stable and fast! Wireless networking highly depends on the environment the access point is operating. If interference sources are high, any notebook will suffer from unstable/slow connections.

I get excellent reception and speed with mine.

Same here, I have no problems connecting anywhere there is a signal.
-
I just asked my father with his new MBP says he has had no such problems. I even compared his signal to my white MB in different rooms with no noticeable signal difference.

Zero issue with wireless connections on the 4 MBP Aluminium in the office.
cheers ... -
wireless connection is solid on mine!!

Absolutely no wireless problems at all with my 2.4 Unibody MB

No problems reported here on a 2.4GHz Uni MB. In fact, It picks up better signal than my XPS1210 at the university.

Great. Thank you guys for the infos.

i have old CoreDuo Macbook White, and 17" Santa Rosa MBP. both are very similar in wireless reception. the macbook white get a bit more reception, but the extra reception it got is usually too bad of a reception to connect (coming and going). i think the difference is minimal. you wouldnt want to connect to wireless at the limit anyway, as the signal are very prone to drop out.

I think this has a lot more to do with environmentals than any design issues. I used to have a black MB that was great, then a MBP, then a MBA, then my current MB. Plastic vs metal did not appear to make any significant differences.
I never had issues at work but did periodically have issues at home (where I can see a dozen wireless networks in the area). What I noticed is that many wireless routers that fell outside the standard specs or implemented a "pre" spec were rude to other networks and caused connection dropouts.
Improving my antenna helped. When I went to a MIMO router that helped a lot. When I went to an Airport Extreme problems became pretty rare and reseting it (so it picks a new base channel) every few months when another idiot buys a rude "pre N" router near me usually solves the problem.
We maybe need to clarify some things...
