Alright guys, this one has me stumped!
So, just for the sake of it (yes, I know), I re-installed Mac OS X yesterday. Since then, all my webpages look funky, using different fonts for the text than it used to. I've tried several browsers, Safari, Firefox, Camino, all the same. I've tried to change the standard Fonts under the browsers' preferences and such, but no change.
Take a look at these screenshots. This definitely wasn't how my NBR used to look like, in terms of the font used:

Any suggestions, guys? Its annoying me quite a lot. Thanks everyone!

Standard font Times 16
Fixed-width Courrier 13
I think some preferences do not get udated -
Try times 16
and courier 13. -
Yeah, I change them to that, and nothing happens! Looks exactly the same. Maybe I'm missing a step somewhere...
-
You tried changing Font Smoothing settings in System Pref>Appearance? Don't forget to restart your application afterwards.
-
Try changing browser types:
Try times 16
and courier 13
and then rebooting the macbook, I had the issue several month ago believe that fixed it. The changes didn't take effect till reboot -
Have you repaired the disk permissions?
Have you checked the fonts folders?
You did a clean install or just install over, them delete the references of safari. if repair permission do not solve the issue. -
Hm, I've tried Repair Disk Permissions, I've changed the fonts in Safari Preferences to Times 16 and Courier 13, I've rebooted three times, I've taken away the PList file so Safari resetted its preferences. Still like this!
-
So...you've also tried setting font smoothing to Strong and restarting your Safari?
The reason I ask again is because you posted that this issue is happening not just in Safari, but also in other browsers. That means this problem is related to the way OS X is displaying fonts in general. -
Yes, I have, and still looks different. Hmmm, what could it be?
-
Your font-cache might be corrupted. Try http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22795 or http://www.jamapi.com/
-
I used it, and rebooted, but still no change! Hmm...
I noticed something though...I went into Font Book and selected All and under File pressed Validate Fonts, and a bunch of Fonts came up as "having a problem" but Passed, so shouldn't be an issue. Some of these are really common fonts too.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the help and suggestions, guys. I really appreciate it!

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
That hapens to me sometimes when I re-install or hard reset. I usually just let it be and it either fixes itself or I get used to it. But atleast now we all know what Sam does when he's bored.
-
I want to get this fixed, its annoying my eyes so much!
What could it be? Should I (*grumble*) re-install OS X again, if that will fix it? -
That's really odd there Sam. I checked my font settings and mine are about the same as other people's with the types of fonts being used. I also use Safari and mine doesn't look like that at all...
Weird... -
Well, I guess I'll have to look around further, I don't know what's causing it. I've done everything the members around here and on Apple Support have recommended, and it hasn't work. My eyes hurt!
-
Alright guys, I ended up reinstalling Mac OS X again
. Now everything's fine, thankfully.
-
Very strange. But nice and easy to re-install OS X after just doing it.
-
Hey Sam,
Could you post a screenshot of what it looks like now, compared to your screenshots you took at the beginning of the thread? I'm sure mine looks like yours did to begin with, so I just want to compare to what you say it should be like now
Paul -
Sure, no problem, Paul! I'm at school right now, I'll post a screenshot back at home!
Webpage text looks different after re-install
