purchased my macbook pro a week ago
loving it
quicksilver, adium, vlc, ical, stickies, and iphoto in particular have been phenomenal for this formerly all-windows user
definitely glad i opted for this over the xps m1530 (i'm sure it's a solid machine as well but this has been such a unique and positive change)
2 questions I've come upon
1) despite neurotic handwashings, i've noticed some very minor stains on the keyboard. what do you guys use to wipe down the unit? (not the screen) I was thinking a paper towel that's very slightly moist?
2) I used to have a program called CCleaner in Windows that allowed me to delete certain programs at bootup. Does Mac have a similar feature built in? Or an additional program? Or no way to adjust which programs automatically turn on/off at bootup?
Thanks

Glad to hear you are liking your Mac, asmallchild!
1) For me, I use a wet cloth for the casing, and a microfibre cloth for the screen. It doesn't matter too much how you clean it, just don't flood the keyboard.
2) In terms of what applications open at login, you can control this in System Preferences > Users > Your User > Login Items.

I just received my macbook yesterday and i love it. I placed my order on the 8th, it shipped out on the 9th, and i received it on the 10th. That's what you call fast shipping. I didn't even pay extra for the shipping, i guess its just because i live close to the warehouse.
You can also choose which programs launch on start up by secondary clicking on the icon on the dock, and check whether you want the application to launch at login or not. -
For the minor keyboard stains, I just clean it with a damp cloth.

i just used (quality) kitchen tissue so there is little dust compared to standard tissue. or just used a cotton cloth... dampen it slightly to clean out stains.. never have stains in my mbp though.
Week 1 of the Mac era is over
