Has anyone lifted both and compared their weight? Is there a huge difference?
Oh and what about battery life?
-
The MacBook is 5.2lbs and the MacBook Pro is 5.6lbs. That is not much different. As for battery life I am not certain, but I think you could expect another hour or so from the MacBook.
-
The MBP does feel more heavier than the MB when held on one side with one hand due to the bigger size.
-
Isn't that backwards?
Greater surface area with about the same weight should feel lighter, not heavier. -
I think he means holding it on one side, i.e. an edge or corner. In that case, more of the weight would be distributed away from your hand since it is larger, and it would feel heavier. If you held them both from the middle, they should feel about the same.
-
Yeah now that I reread what he said, I get it.
-
I get about 3 hours on my MBP.
-
Damn 3 hours is good. I only get maybe 1 hour and 30 minutes from my alienware. They are always known for a terrible battery life though.
-
Battery life for my MacBook Pro ranged anywhere from 2 hours (full brightness, Wifi) to 3.5 hours (min brightness, Wifi) to almost 5 hours (min brightness, no Wifi). I'm still wondering why WiFi causes a decrease of 1.5 hours of battery life, but there's no option for wireless signal power like in Windows. I would hope that OSX manages power consumption automatically, but I can't say for sure.
In general, the battery for a MBP is fairly decent. Not as good as if you were to get a Windows laptop designed for high battery life (with adverse effects elsewhere), but still a good laptop, nonetheless. -
Yes, a good laptop, but only in 15". Shame, otherwise, i would've bought it instantly.
Now I have to decide between the MB and Lenovo T61
-
The difference in weight between the MacBook and the MBP is not significant enough to justify buying the MB over the MBP. Price difference and having no use for a graphics card would be the main reasons.
Weight difference b/w MB and MBP
