Whenever I pay a song, or click a button, my 80 GB CLassic is giving this weird noise, coming from the device itself.
Even on some of my songs are messed up, it showed a song thats a couple of minutes to be 7 hours and 24 min.
Yesterday, I was transferring music from my computer, and I found out that someone (a little kid), stopped the transfer midway.
What is the problem?
NOte: THe sound is not the clicker![]()

IDC about the messed up songs, I could always reformat the HDD, but the thing I am concerned about is that weird noise......

Try and format it if possible?? I dont know if you can as ive never owned a HDD ipod.
Its probably the HDD. -
theres a high probability its the hard drive..mine failed after 15 months of usage
-
How do you fix that?
-
try restoring the ipod.......and transfer ur music again
also if u dont have the latest firmware.....putting in the latest one is a good idea -
stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
Yea it sounds to me like a hard drive problem. If its out of warranty you can go on ifixit.com and get the guide and parts to replace the hard drive.
-
If that doesnt work, then it probably is the HDD.
If its still under warranty, you should try to get it fixed. -
Well, the songs are playable.
And it was only one song that had the "7 hours" problem.
OK, b4 i get myself tangeled with replacements and all that, how to restore the harddrive (or reformat)?
i didnt have the latest firmware (I had1.1.1, the latest was 1.1.2), ill install that.
If the problem still persists, then ill geta replacement

This is why i loove flash based players. LOl sorry. I understand the fact that the HDD can hold more and thinks like that but MP3 player to me tells me its a portable device that can go anywhere with you. HDD sometimes arent built for all the traveling and being used. But w/e. I have seen 30 gigs that have lasted pretty long. The ability to store everything you have is a nice feature.

You should just go into itunes, connect your ipod, and then click on it on the left.
There should be an option there to restore, factory default, reformat, something like that.
But it will get rid of all your music, and anything else on the ipod, so make sure you backup whatevers on it, and you have all of the songs you need. -
Mine started to do the same thing yesterday. Its a loud click from the hard drive. I noticed that the iPod refused to play certain mp3's so I restored the iPod then reloaded the music. Sorry to say it didn't fix the issue. I know its not the mp3's because they plan fine on my Macbook Pro and my iPhone. I also noticed the loud click when the hard drive first spins up. So I'm just about sure that the hard drive is about to crap out. I still have a couple of months to have it repaired. I checked and it will cost about 32 bucks to have it fixed. The funny part is that it costs about 6 dollars to repair, the rest is for shipping. The last time this happened (3rd gen 20 GB) they sent just replaced it with a new one.
