I'm just wondering what are some of the windows features you macbook users miss?

Does anyone have any links to some sites that really explain a lot of the Mac OS features?

I don't know, honestly, I can't think of anything right now. I actually primarily use Windows at home right now (I'm presently Mac-less at home, although still use OS X at work).

When I'm using my Mac, there isn't really anything from Windows that I can sit there and say "Man, I wish my Mac could do this".

It would probably more come down to software availability; that is, nothing specific about Windows itself, but more about perhaps a Windows-specific piece of software. But honestly, as far as most software goes, I already have a Mac equivalent, so even then there isn't that much of a difference.

So I guess maybe Windows-only games, but I've found myself not even playing PC games that much anyway lately.

And for that purpose, Boot Camp's enabling of running Windows on a Mac takes care of that.

So yeah, can't think of anything really.

As far as OS X feature explanations:

Going the other way, I wish you could assign individual images to individual desktops in Windows. I am a little stunned that you can't do this in Vista.

Yes, I know about UltraMon. It's $40, so, forget it.

Otherwise I can't think of anything off hand. I don't hate Windows, when my MBP is booted up in Vista, if I'm just doing normal things, like websurfing, I don't even really notice the difference.

I just wish that the Wireless set-up could be a little better by default.

Yea, I wish it showed signal strength and if there's an encryption key or not. Hopefully that'll be fixed in Leopard.

I really really really wish I could resize windows from ANY edge on my Mac. I really really miss that feature. The bottom corner only resizing simply sux. Big time.

I also wish Finder could organise stuff in List view like Windows does - all the folders at the top in alphabetic order, followed by all the files in alphabetic order. I know this can be achieved using Finder alternatives, but I still think it should have come as a default option.

A navigatable address bar like the one Vista has would also be nice. Having to switch to Column view is annoying.

That's about all I can think of now. I think Finder can be improved in so many ways. Apple should do something about it so people don't have to use Finder alternatives.

I wish OSX had made better use of the right mouse button with full OS integration. I use a Microsoft 2 button mouse but it's still not the same as Windows. I hope Apple eventually goes to a standard two button mouse setup. I purchased a wired Mighty Mouse and features wise, it's still isn't as good as what you find in Windows, plus the Mighty Mouse track ball quit working after 3 months. :p

In XP, it generally detects folder types and with photos it automatically uses thumbnail view to show previews. You can set that in OS X, but it would be nice to have it do it automatically with full icon size so you don't have to manually scale it too.

In Windows you can also cut and past files and folders instead of just copy and paste in OS X.

Some features that I'm not sure if Windows has but would still be useful in any platform is the ability to open a folder in a new window. A designated up one level in the file directory button would also be useful since I have shortcuts to get to certain folders, but sometimes I need to go up one level and the back button doesn't act like that.

    Here's a few:
Folder wide thumbnail preview of pictures. I know that there is iphoto, but sometimes I have to use finder to find my pic's eg uploading to website, and its a pain that there is no folder-wide thumbnail view.
Also wish mail had a ask for read receipt option, also wish that powerpoint had live thumbnail preview of slides like it does in windows, office 04 just shows generic slide, not real useful when you editing a talk with 30 slides and want to jump to slide "x" but can't remember its #...made even more annoying due to rosetta, thus for eg. choose the wrong slide with a large movie embeded and I might as well go for a coffee.

I know most of these will be fixed by years end but still wished they were fixed now.

Windows allows you to organize the open windows vertically or horizontally, side by side. I love that feature because I'm always reading a pdf file on the right and typing away in a word document on the left side of my screen. As far as I know, OS X doesn't have that simply feature.

I didn't know Windows had that feature. You sure it isn't some 3rd party software you installed? Like multiple desktops or something.

Have the windows you want organized opened (NOT minimized), then right-click on the bar to the right of START (where your windows are located) and you'll see "Tile Windows Horizontally' or vertically. It's a neat feature.

I also find it very difficult to resize the opened windows in OS X. I wanted to reduce the size of iWork (or maybe it was WORD from office mac) and it took me a while to figure things out. Its toolbar was also very annoying since it was not WITHIN the window and separate, and I wanted to be IN it but couldn't figure out how. Maybe there's a way to do all that, but since I'm not a mac user, I don't know.

I agree with the thumbnails too. It is annoying having to click each file to get a preview of it.

$35 to replace the OS file manager/navigation app is pretty sad...I hope Apple fixes it with Leopard.

I don't know, $35 isn't all that much, and Path Finder is a really well developed and made file manager. I know plenty of people who swear by it. I don't find it to be "sad".

Having said that, a Finder overhaul is one of the rumoured features for Leopard, but even if it is done, Path Finder has a lot of additional advanced features that one wouldn't expect to find in the default file managers in an OS like OS X or Windows. So it still would have its place I think.

definitely a finder improvement, it isn't terrible by any means, and Expose is absolutely great, but it is just the little things in finder that would be easy to fix that needs to be fixed

Hrm... the single biggest thing... would be having a build of DX9 or DX10 so I can play DX games directly in OS X.

Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is more options for when I right click on stuff in the finder windows. So I guess a Finder improvement/overhaul is my second choice.
