    Hi

I want a MBA but it's costly if you want better components because you can't install it yourself. What exactly can you upgrade in MBP that you can easily do yourself?

You can upgrade the RAM and the Harddrive easily, with a little more work you can swap out the dvd drive for another harddrive using optibay.

MBA - upgrade SSD with apple or aftermarket ( zif pata drive for r1, non standard SSD in others )
MBP - RAM up to 16 ( 2011/2012 models ) and hdd/ssd in main drive bay, add a second drive to optical bay as said
MBP-r - upgrade SSD with overpriced OWC drive ( not a standard mSATA )
