What happened to this forum?

Is it just me or has this forum just gone down hill in the last month or so?

This mac sub-forum was instrumental in helping me and many others through a relatively smooth process of transitioning from windows to mac. There are so many great people here, so knowledgeable and willing to help at every opportunity.

Yet all I see now is these guys' posts and threads being drowned out by a bunch of children who've never used a mac, let alone owned one, forcing their biased opinions down everyone's throat, effectively turning just about every thread into an endless and fruitless mac vs PC debate.

Considering there are some thirty four (exaggerating) other windows-related sub-forums on this site, why have all the windows fanboys found refuge here?

If this continues the way it has been going for the last while it would be sad (for me personally) as it would have turned what was once a great resource for mac-related information for mac and would-be mac users into just a squabble theatre.

 

I dunno, but I recently bought a mac (always used PC) so I can't be one of the fanbois that flame any apple user...or I guess I could and be a total retard for spending near 3k so I can flame my own people. =p

 

We Microsoft fanboys are bored. There isn't too much to complain about as far as Windows 7 so time to pick on the Mac fanboys and flirt with the Mac chicks.

 

Occasionally Windows users use Apple products, and then it isn't always straightforward which forum is the right one to post in. Case in point: Safari 4 yesterday. I run Windows, but the Safari thread was definitely in the Apple forum, and it is an Apple product. So I posted in the thread here - the thread seemed to cover Safari for both platforms. But I definitely lurk in the Windows forums more - I just saw this thread title on the recent threads and was curious if it referred to NBR or a specific subforum, and if so, which one.

I actually would rather argue with Vista fanboys than OSX fanboys. My main problem with OSX is that Apple won't let me legally use it!

 

Please report any trolling in any of the forums to a moderator, as it is strictly against the forum rules.

That aside, I thought the Apple forums calmed down recently. I haven't seen that many fanboys bashing Apple lately.

 

I think part of the problem is the number of people moving to OS X from Windows. I've noticed quite an upswing in the numbers as of late or it could just be an effect of me noticing more because I moved. Either way Window's market share has been dropping and perhaps they are scared. I did try the Windows 7 beta before buying a MBP and obviously it wasn't enough improvement to keep me from switching.

 

I think the best approach that we can take is to not respond to the trolls... as that is exactly what they want... I know that I am often to blame for responding, its not easy when there are daily attacks. But if we all just continue to report them and ignore them hopefully they will go away.

I take this as an indirect insult to the ones that own and use a Mac (myself included). Isn't this going against NBR forum rules?

He's being sarcastic. He's actually a proponent for Macs.

Use whatever platform fits your needs best. If OSX does it for you, go for it. If Windows is yours, go for it. That said, on a personal level, I think Macs are overpriced for their performance, however, they do offer advantages that PCs don't, making it a question of value. Since the extras aren't valuable to me, I can only conclude that Macs are overpriced for me. If you are satisfied with the price premium and utilize the advantages of OSX, by all means, do so.

Really? Such as Mac Rumors you mean?? It's one of the largest Mac sites on the web. RIIIGGHHT, that's one of the very places PC fanboys create accounts just to troll Mac forums. Are you suggesting that we run from the PC lovers rather than try and have NBR handle the situation? This is a great thread, it informs PC fanboys to get a life and stop posting here if you don't have any interest in Macs.
I am not at all interested in PC's. I paid my dues in the past to HP and Compaq and I no longer want that "Registry" life. With that being said, I don't even bother "viewing" the Windows forum on NBR. The PC fanboys should grow up and stay on forums that have topics on products they are interested in owning.

QFT!you are totally right! 90% of mac buys know why are they paying more for macs and actually use their advantages.

 

it's funny because it's alot of mac owners who make pc vs macs threads. posting this thread isn't going to change anything. and some people who criticize macs actually own a mac and compare them to pc and vise versa. maybe when ever someone they say they hate vista i should report them as a troll

 

Let the PC people troll and do whatever they want.

The bottom line is that there are several Mac owners who actually care and provide help to others in the Mac sub forum. It's just a matter of asking for it.

 

Every one of your posts certainly makes you suspect of which side of the fence you are on. Interesting you post here a lot yet you seem to despise the Macintosh and it's users. Take a good look at your past posts, you sound like the very person the OP is talking about. You're sig screams a troll.

the funny part is that NBR mac owners are one of modest ones on the net...never so someone here bragging about his mac...

 

i never said i despise macintosh, just some users(under my username). i even told someone to get a mac before, and i own a mac which the op said mac bashers haven't even touched a mac. i've never made a thread going against macs. also i used my sig out of humor(it makes fun of every os) which apparently people in this forum don't have. and seriously everyone one of my post make me look like a troll look again.

there's more you can search for since your a fast searcher. again there isn't many threads made from people who hasn't had a mac. and if you want to prove me wrong post, at least two threads(wanting to start a fight between pc vs macs) started by non mac owners

who said i said that, in the why a mac thread you attacked me because i said windows can do more powerful graphical work, when i POSTED that MACS was FINE doing graphical work as well. for no reason just because i said windows was better in something than osx

people criticize things all the time but people here go over the top trying to defend it based on there experiences, when every bodies experiences are different. and on the same thread people challenge him based on his experience with a mac like he was a troll but they never said it. not everybody has the time or willingness to post a description like his. i've even told people why i don't like macs as much a windows, but like i said many times before, users in this thread act like any criticism against mac is bad criticism and automatically calls you a windows fanboy. people act this way for a reason, people are easily offend over nothing and several members re frame from calling people trolls. also you never search for those threads started by non mac owners

i criticize apple all the time and i give a reason from personal experiences since i own a mac, and i never seen you call anybody a troll. again you should look around you people are called trolls all the time for the same reason, just because you don't doesn't mean other people do

well the reason is because they criticized macs or said something was better in windows( even if they have experiences with both), you really don't need any proof

Banning those words will not stop anything since people will just use different words.

Right, this thread is becoming too personal, and it is therefore closed.

Just to add another note, the forum automatically logs members who have been previously officially warned for violating the forum rules. And members has been warned a sufficient number of times for violating the same rules will be automatically banned.

So, I would strongly recommend all members to pay attention to what they post, so that it does not upset other forum members or violate the forum rules.
