Is it going to be the exact same hardware as the Macbook, ported to a larger chassis? I can't possibly imagine why there would be a demand for that, because with a 15" screen, you'd probably want discrete graphics. The MBP fills that segment, so where will the 15" MB go?

Well, some people just want a larger screen. I was actually helping a friend of my mom's pick out a new laptop, and she wanted a larger screen simply to give her more room to work with, etc. and be easier on her eyes. She didn't need discreet graphics, etc.

There are also plenty of PC laptops sold with 15" screens (not to mention 17" screens) combined with integrated graphics.

It wouldn't be that unusual for Apple. They also had made a 14" iBook along with the 12" iBook.

Some people want the larger screen, but don't specifically need the extra features of the MacBook Pro.

By the same token, there are people that want the features of the macBook Pro but in a smaller form factor.

There is no way to answer that really. No one knows. As for no demand, there are many, 15" notebooks without dedicated graphics, and further the GMA X3000 will likely perform close to some of the very low end cards such as the x1300. If they put discrete graphics, don't expect them to be anything special. I think it will probably carry a couple hundred dollar premium over a comparable 13.3" MacBook.

I think I read somewhere that Apple is to make 15" macbooks in the future.

Yeah, it's been a fairly long standing rumor, I think leaked by one of the companies that manufactures computers for Apple....... but I don't think there's ever been any concrete announcement yet.

I'd like to see one. I'd trade in my MBP for one.

    I don't need the x1600... I need longer battery life on a 15".
