Why should there be a second mouse button since MacOS doesn't need it? Only for Windows users? I doubt the Windows market share on MacBooks is at least 5%. No pain, no gain. Apple would never do it, unless they would need the functionality.

What isnt great about the MBP

The damn thing isn't free - that's a shame. I had to pay my hard-earned cash in order to get one. And instead of that beautiful white plastic used in the MB (which I love), the MBP is done in metal. Looks like they painted the thing in Battleship Grey. And that keyboard . . . what the hell is a CMD key anyway? Who ever heard of a CMD key?

Geez, I'm gonna have to order a Windows notebook; I've just shown myself what a terrible machine this damn thing really is!

Good point too bad your wrong. Mac OS does use contextual menus so a right mouse button would be a nice addition. If you use a two button mouse Mac OS automatically maps the right mouse button to contextual menus.

Just a note about the Delete key thing...to anyone who wants to actually delete something with the Delete key, select a file and press Command + Delete.

    You're kidding, right?

The "metal" is actually aluminum. Do some research and see how the parts in the MBP heat up, and what would that do to your beloved plastic.

The "CMD" (although I've never heard of it that way) could be the Command key which is the Apple key. Every Mac keyboard/computer has it.

    It's like the Windows key.

Yeah, CMD is Command Key, also known as Apple key (but considering the way they made the new iMac keyboard, seems Apple wants you to call it Command from now on, instead of alternating between Command and Apple.

    All Macs have this key.

That's awfully harsh. Most notebooks are made of plastic and many of them have more durable cases and better cooling than the Macbook Pro. The Thinkpad T series is an excellent example.

    ⌘ = Command

I agree. It is worth noting that the MacBook's hard plastic casing is actually more protective than the MBP's aluminum. So it actually protects the MacBook more than the aluminum protects the MBP.

I don't know why I always had the impression that Aluminum treats heat better than plastic...

    Or does it?

Metal, in general, conducts heat well. The Case of the Macbook Pro works as a heatsink by drawing heat out and spreading it across the case which is then cooled by the air. This is good for the internal components, but it's not good for your lap.

Plastic is a heat insulator, not exactly what you want to cool the laptop.

Why, thank you for such thoughtful insights. Obviously, you've not read any of my previous posts. I'm an avid Mac/Apple fan, have owned many Macs - laptops, desktops - and displays. Have even bought several iPods for my son and gf.

Frankly, even if a person had absolutely no sense of humor, I'd have expected him to realize that I was joking. I've actually never been able to get a notebook from any dealer, Apple or otherwise, without paying for it.

About my beloved plastic: I owned MB's before and after the initial update which cooled the machine a great deal. The heat did nothing harmful to the machines at all, though initially I was uncomfortable if using it on my lap. My comment about the MBP being metal rather than my beloved plastic was made simply because there had been discussion earlier about whether the MBP was plastic or aluminum.

I use right click all the time.

The one button mouse and trackpad sucks. I have no idea why Apple sticks with it.

Well, aluminum spreads the heat out more than plastic does, if that's what you mean. As in, the aluminum casing of the MBP should get hotter than the hard plastic casing of the MacBook.

well if MacOS didn't need it, why does something even happen when you right click?...and why does apple's own mighty mouse have a right click button? (it was implemented terribly btw)

Not sure, but I don't think I've ever read a comment from anyone, Mac fan or hater, who actually liked the Mighty Mouse.

I use an MX518 and right-click all the time. Maybe some folks who use OSX don't need a right-click function, but I certainly like having it.

I've got a wired Mighty Mouse. I right click a lot and I like it very much!

Especially the horizontal scrolling. I use it a lot.

Quit talking smack about the Mighty Mouse. I'll have to send him your way for a little beat down. :D

I actually like the MM. The scroll ball works very well.

Wow it's like the most UNREAL jinx!

My scrollball just died. Or something. I can't scroll up. Yeah with the Mighty Mouse. I can scroll down, left, right, but not up. There's no more ticking sound either.

    God damn it!

    I'm opening it up!

whats wrong with using 2 finger right click?

MBP is indeed made of alumunium. thats why it dents :( they should really reinforce it with something, coz the MBP has a lot of flat spaces and that makes the metal weaker.

Cheers, I've opened it up, made my way to the small ball enclosure, and it was indeed full of crap. Cleaned it up, and now it works like a charm!

Also it was really funny to find out that the small clicking (ticking) sound the scroll ball makes is fake :D It only turns on when you stick the USB in :D

    edit:
But it was really strange how exactly after I praised the mouse working really great, this happened.

    Great show! :D
