P8800, I think the old one was a T9550, the advantage here is that the P8800 has a TDP of 25w, while the T9550 is 35w, so the newer one runs slightly cooler and uses a little less power. The 3mb l2 lost isn't noticeable, and in extended use the P8800 would probably preform better as it will heat up slower, meaning the computer won't have to throttle down to reduce heat.

Yep, Xhibit is correct.
Everymac says it's the P8800.

They could of used a P9600, basically the same as the P8800 only it has 6mb l2. However the P9600 cost about $100 more. Saves apple allot of money but doesn't really affect performance, and the model of cpu is no where to be found on apple.com I guess they figured no one would really notice.

Are we sure here, mine says it's 6MB L2 Cache. I have the MBP 15" Late 2008 Model with a 2.66 GHz processor.
-
Aditya, I'm pretty sure they're talking about the new summer 2009 models
-
Ah...ok then

The 2.66GHz CPU in the 15" MBP are as follows (U.S. market Apple Part No.):
MB985LL/A (mid 2009) - Intel P8800 (3MB L2 Cache)
MC026LL/A (early 2009) - Intel T9550 (6MB L2 Cache)
What processor is the 2.66 Ghz one ?
