Well, Sager is specifically a high-powered notebook company. And very boutique compared to Apple. The amount of gaming notebooks sold is a very minimal amount in the real world, the majority of notebooks sold are sub-$1000 Dells, HPs and Acers. Therefore Apple would be reaching to a very niche market with a gaming notebook, and of course, without enough Mac games to justify it.

Fonduekid, another user posted them in a specific thread already. But thanks again! I do like the new design overall, its an improvement on an already excellent design!

Would it be possible to have a 9700M GT in a 15" MBP?

Macs are not meant to be gaming notebooks, but I am sure anything is possible. But as I understand it, macbook pros tend to get a bit hot, considering the limited space for internal components and cooling, so it might not be so easy. I don't think apple is focused on gaming anyway, so I wouldn't count on it.

But what good is a company that doesn't offer services to all potential customers? I'm not asking for Apple to all of a sudden change their entire lineup to $2000+ gaming laptops, but making an option, hell, even a SPECIAL ORDER or something in and around that. Apple is well aware that they picked up a nice chunk of people when they made windows able to run on a mac, so I really don't think that it makes that much sense to completely ignore that new (and still very much growing) market segment of gamers. I can't see any downfall for this except for the fact that someone high up in the corporate is just gonna have to get off their lazy *** and get into a little bit of work to accomodate for the hardware and if its not too much to ask, give a little intimidating flare for design...

    special order apple laptop?

You make it sound like its IMPOSSIBLE to game on a 9600/9650, or sometihng like that.

but yea, we'll see tomorow how itll work out. Maybe theyll have a base 15" with a 96xx and then a higher end version with something better.

    thats all im gonna say

Maybe the problem with hot MBP was because it was a old design getting updated with new hardware, so this round it might be better?

I want to see someone trying to play Crysis on 1920x1200 resolution, with highest quality DX10 settings and full AA/AF, and see if its POSSIBLE to play on that... I'll even take UT2007, Fallout 3, GTA4, Bioshock, Oblivion (Heavily modded), Assassin's Creed. If you can assure me that 9600Ms can play those on respectable framerates, then I'll never complain, if not, then I feel as a gamer who simply needs a mac only for school but wants to buy something for all-in-one, its a waste of my $2500-$3000 that I've worked hard since the end of summer til this saturday to get actually...

I doubt it'll have that glossy feeling, it should be just the wrapper. I expect it to be sleek aluminum like the current MBPs, MBAs and iMacs.

    Should I even bother replying?

how many times have people said that the MBP isn't a gaming machine. It wasn't designed too be one. And most of them out there dont even have 1920x1200 as a resolution option.

I think you should spend your money on a Sager or something like that if you want to play games on max settings. Or get a mac pro, and see how that turns out.

    But seriously.
MBP was never designed to be a gaming machine.
    Can it game? Yes.
    Could it be improved? Sure.
Will the new MBP be a gaming machine? Probably not, but who knows.

It's been said in the past, if you compare the price of a MBP to a similarily priced PC, it doesn't add up. But thats the way macs have been, if you're worried about getting the most bang for your buck, Dont buy a mac.

I guess i did bother replying.

But you said it yourself, it doesn't add up to buy a macbook part for part in comparison to a pc notebook even though apple uses the same hardware now. I'm sure we're not the only two people that agree with this, so why aren't we doing something about it? Or more specifically, not doing something, as in we should maybe stop buying apple computers and all send angry letters describing just how angry we are until apple either gets better hardware, or lowers their prices, or both preferably.

    Go ahead and do that.

Honestly, maybe something will come of it.

Me on the other hand? I live with my 8600, I "played" many games on it. Obviously not to your standards, but I dare say many laptops can. But I still "played" games. But my mbp isnt only about "playing". I've done many photoshop jobs on it, FCP editing, flash work, dreamweaver, etc, etc with little complaints. Sure it'd be nice if it were a bit faster, but thats the case with any computer we buy. And like other people say, theres the "Apple Tax" that we pay when we get an apple, for all the little niceties. I'm happy with my MBP, even though I coulda gotten a "better" dell or whatever else computer at the time, probably for less.

Maybe this refresh will be different, and apple will lower their prices, to somewhat compare with PC's. But even if they do lower their prices, I almost dont see it still being comparable to PCs, specs for specs, if they keep with the way they've been in the past.

But suposidly the rumour mill is churning again, some sort of sli may be in the new 15"s.

Sounds like crazy talk, but we'l all find out in less then 12 hours.

    OOppss Sorry about that.

I am not a frequent visiter here in Apple forums, but I do follow Mac news else where, particularly at Wired. And the dates of these articles were new, and I *did check if its already been posted here*.. but just didn't catch it.. Sorry again.

Having said that, I think these new designs are nice, and I like it...
