I was wondering if you’d need to install SP2 when installing Windows on a Mac – however you may install Windows (Parallels or Boot Camp).

    Thanks.

You need SP2 to get any recent (past 3 years) software updates from Microsoft. While not -required- per se, you'll be very vulnerable to new viruses, spyware/malware, and you may not be able to use peripherals that require SP2's system changes.

Beyond that, SP2 has MUCH improved wireless performance over the initial release.

Boot Camp actually requires an XP install disc with SP2.

BUt Parallels will let you install any version of Windows just fine.

I autostreamed a disc with SP2 and installed it in Parallels (and also on my formatted computer) and it still said Service Pack 1 when I right-click my computer. Does that mean I didn't autostream it properly?
