Nothing has been announced, but I suspect it will be several months still.

Agreed - you won't see Intel iBooks for another few months at least. I've heard rumors that they're going to be released with the new 12" and 17" MB Pro.

Just before the Macbook Pro was released, there were rumours from well-established and reliable sources that the first Intel based Mac was supposed to be the new iBook. Seems like the rumours were wrong... again.
Looking back, though, it's easy to see why people thought that way. I personally don't understand (not that that's important) why Apple would release a 'pro' model when everyone in the world knows that they're going to be replaced by the 64-bit Merom later this year.
It would have made more sense to go with a lower end budget model iBook with the 32-bit Yonahs now and then wait for the Meroms for the pro models, not to mention the fact that it would have given software developers more time to make high-end applications that run natively on Intel based Macs. As of right now, even if you had a Macbook Pro sitting on your desk, what the heck would you do with it? Run Photoshop 2x as slow as a G4?
Anyway, I hope that the iBooks come out soon. I'm very interested in specs and prices. If Apple continues the tradition of having a dedicated graphics card in everything they sell (even in their lowest end iBook), this should be pretty interesting. -

My bet is late Spring. Historically we see updates to the "books" every year around this time.

Um, I am no realiable source but if I have say anything look around April/May(ish) I say that for a few reasons, one because I think that the iBook are usually updated around that time and because Yohan base processors will be less in demand allowing for a slightly cheaper price or the stock for them is very limited.
The Macbook was a bit shocking though. -
my guess is mayb april 1st (apple's 30th anniversary)
or around summer..ish -
Is the price of the intel iBooks going to be the same price as they are now? I really wouldn't be able to afford much over $1,000. If they are too pricy when they come out do you think the price will go down by the end of the year?
-
Most likely - there may even be a low-end Celeron powered iBook for cheap.

It comes with all the standard features you'd expect to find in any notebook plus it comes with a full-size firewire port (important to some of us), a slot loading optical drive (cool factor), and a dedicated graphics card (something definitely not found a lot in this price range - albeit a 32MB Radeon 9550 but still better than the integrated stuff).
Additionally, it gets pretty good battery life and comes in a small and light package with (in my opinion) above average build quality, so you're doing pretty good for the money that you pay.

One must remember that a celeron M is much much different than a p4 based celeron.
