I've been having trouble with Software Update (I keep getting that "Timed out. (-1001)" message), so I decided to manually download the updates and install them myself. Problem is, the updates that Software Update have already been partially downloaded and I'm sure are taking up a lot of space. I have the HP Printer Drivers Update and the Java Update; I'm wondering which folder they're stored in so I can delete them. Thanks.

If you leave your mac on over night then its likely that the maintenance scripts will probably run themselves and clean out alot of these files, otherwise try out some of the hits on that link
a
ps programs like mainmenu, onyx, iceclean and other maintenance programs might also be worth a look for helping to purge cache's etc
