Ok i just got a white macbook and i loooooooove it. However, i did get a few hairline scratches and im very anal about scratches. I tried a google search of invisishield but nothing came up. I was wondering if there is another name for the product and where I can purchase it.
-
You can find them at http://www.shieldzone.com/category/laptops/
I think you couldn't find it since the product name is actually InvisibleSHIELD, not Invisishield. -
Since the covering is polycarbonate, products will work to physically remove scratches. You could go from simple fillers to the extreme of wetsanding and polishing.
I don't have experience it this area, but any plastic polish rated for polycarbonate should be adequate. Hopefully this will be useful further down the line should you get the deep gouge or major scratch that's pretty much bound to happen (possibly even with good protection).
Ofcourse, I'd think twice before touching anything to the covering of a $1000+ anything...Just a thought. -
I have the InvisibleSheild for my White Macbook, and it works like a charm, the outer top case (where the apple logo is) is harder to apply because its such a large peice, make sure you got a second helping hand for that one.
already it has protected my Macbook from ketchup *yeah apparently I didnt wipe my hands off good enough* it still looks spankin' new.

xbandaidx do they charge tax on the shieldzone? I had one in the cart to see how much it would be and the total didn't have it so I am wondering if I had to type more information or they don't charge it for where I live, California.
~Arman -
No, I didn't get charged tax. Most likely California will be charging tax though, they charge tax on like almost everything online because of how many computer companies are located out there.
-
ShieldZone is based in Utah, so I don't believe you should be charged tax. You would probably see it when you actually check out though (a lot of e-commerce systems don't actually show you the tax and shipping calculations until you actually check out, since it can't tell you that until it knows where it is going to be shipping to).

ShieldZone recently started doing Mall Carts, its offered to certain people (I got offered) where they can start a business of their own with ShieldZone selling their products, they have four test runs on it going right now. I believe there is a one or two located in California, and if I'm right than you're gonna be charged sales tax most likely. Basically if any business has an actual store where you can purchase products, and if you buy it online and they have a store in your state, you're going to be charged sales tax.

I'm tempted to put this on my MBP, but I'm afraid it might have a significant insulating effect. Thoughts?
-
ah ok, thanks for the replies.
-
No, it doesn't have an insulating effect, the heat will still just pass through it like any other plastic.
-
I just created a shieldzone account with a California address and billing zip code to check and see if they charged any sales tax, and they did not. I then checked it out with a Utah address and it did add 6.6% for Utah sales tax. So at least at this point, someone in California would not be charged sales tax for buying from them.
Generally speaking, the Mall Carts you're talking about shouldn't really apply. It sounds like what you described is something where you would own the "business" and resell their products at this Mall Cart. It would only apply to the sales tax if ShieldZone actually owned the Mall Cart (although I'd honestly be curious if that counts as a "retail location"). -
But the idea with the aluminum MBP case is that the metal is supposed to act like a heat sink, dissapating heat using the entire chassis. While I do want scratch protection, I'm just curious if it would be like coating a metal heat sink in plastic.
-
Yeah, but the new MBPs aren't aluminum. They are plastic. (Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read someone say this and also when i tried the MBP it didn't feel exactly like anything else other than plastic)
Zadillo, I know they most likely own at least one of those Mall carts, but than its probably located in Utah somewhere near their home company. -

Few questions on the invisible shield...
1. Does the top shield protect just the top, or does it curve around the rounded edges?
2. Does dust particles or small hairs get easily stuck to the materials when applying?
3. Does anyone have pics applied to a black macbook? I found some, but they are small cameraphone pics. -
Does anyone have any large photos of the invisible shield on a macbook?
I'd like to see how it would look with the invisible shield on.
Where do I purchase invisishield?
