    Where is the best place to buy the MBP?

    So where is the best place to buy the MBP, through apple or apple store (B&M)?
    I was thinking in terms of return - if there is something wrong with it, which option will give the fastest service?
    I'm buying it this week.

    Also, how does the warranty work, do I have to fill in a form and send it to apple or can it all be taken care of in the store? It's important since I'm leaving for Europe in one week.

    Doesn't really matter...both are the same in terms of returns as far as I know (14 days if there's any problem with it). Of course, getting it in store will mean you get it right away, while getting it online means you need to wait for it to ship ;).

    I'd say at an Apple retail store, in a state that has no sales tax and with a student ID.... student ID = $200 bucks off.

    The Apple Store Online and Retail is not exactly the same as far as returns and exchanges are concerned. If you purchase Online (or over the phone) you will not be able to Return or Exchange your computer at an Apple Retail Store. You will need to contact Apple and mail the product back. If you purchase at a Retail Store you can Return or Exchange the product to a Retail Store.

    If you suspect your machine is defective the apple retail store will give you a tough time, in most cases, unless of course your machine is so defective that the problem is extremely noticeable i.e. doesn't turn on. But if you get some dead pixels, or the screen looks yellow, they'll give you the run around...

    My problem right now is that I'm leaving in a week and I will be in Europe for one year. I'm afraid of having a problem with the MPB and having to resolve the issue within a few days - probably not possible.
    I'll go with the retail store and persuade them to help me out.

    Otherwise I will have to resolve the issues in Europe.
    So how does the warranty work? Do I fill out a form that will be sent Apple an then back to me or can I take care of this at the store?
