Either I didn't install some particular update, or the resolutions 1440x900 and 1680x1050 are totally missing in both osx and bootcamp. And under bootcamp I installed the nvidia mobile drivers instead of using apple's. But yet something tells me osx is not offering it. Is there any way of getting those 2 res? Or am I forever out of luck?

Why would you want to run your machine at a lower resolution where it'll be blurry?
-
If you want to make things look bigger on your Macbook screen, try changing the DPI by using the Quartz Debug.app (on your OS X installation disc). That way you will not lose picture quality like you would when running at non-native resolutions.

Actually the lower res is more for gaming purposes as I run osx at 1920x1200, couldn't have it any other way. But for everything else, I go from 1280x800 and then the next 16:10 res is 1920x1200 which is quite a jump.
Btw, how do you "print screen" in both osx and windows? Sometimes I'd like to take a screenshot of the desktop or within a game. -
to take a screen shot
Shift-Command-4
additionally, press space bar if you want to select an application window -
Does shift command 4 work in both osx and bootcamp?
And that brings me back to my original question, does any of you 17" unibody owners have access to the 1440 and 1680 resolutions? -
-
Ah, thanks for the clarification.
So how do you print screen in windows then? The key doesn't even exist (I'm using windows xp btw, so no snippingtools).
And yes, the games I run do allow me to change the resolution. However the 2 specific resolutions (1440x900 and 1680x1050) simply do not exist in the choices. This goes for both windows and osx (I play world of warcraft in osx). Heck, even changing the osx res, those 2 don't exist. Hopefully I'm not alone. Or hopefully I just didn't install some small file although such a basic res missing is kind of strange since the 15" unibody is native at 1440x900.
Where's 1440 and 1680 on the 17" unibody?
