What are you exact settings (screen brightness, bluetooth, wifi, etc) that you can get 5 hours with Wifi on?

About 40% brightness, no bluetooth. I have a ssd drive as well. I actually get 5 1/2 hours but it fluctuates.

I havn't reduced anything except the brightness. I received this laptop a day ago and switched the harddrive to a gskill 64gb ssd. First mac that I ever bought actually and one of the main reasons why I bought it was the battery life. Im just wondering if anyone knew if firefox used less power than opera to extend my battery life even further to 6 hours.

Safari probably uses the least battery and cpu. maybe camino if you want a similar app, since its based on safari.

I'd probably say firefox would use the most cpu usage though, not sure about ff3, but ff2 definitely uses more cpu then it should.

Safari tends to be the best for battery life in my experience. However, I still prefer Shiretoko (FF3.1 beta) due to its speed.

If you turn Bluetooth off and decrease brightness to the lowest or second lowest setting, you might be able to get about 6 hours if you stay away form heavy flash and java sites. I usually average about 5 hours life, excluding a few hours of standby time.

I expect the best battery life will be with any browser with flash and script disabled.

Firefox with Flashblock, No script and ABP for example.

One more vote for Safari. Uses less RAM less CPU.

And worked better overall for me. I used to love Firefox until I got Safari on OS X.

I really don't notice any difference between browsers, but FireFox is faster and snappier than Safari for me.

I just use Firefox 3.1b2 (b2 supports gestures) because that's the only program on a Mac that I'm familiar with.

safari seems to be better once you load youtube and/or google map.

otherwise, opera is better i think.
