Hello all![]()
I want to buy a new laptop but i am stuck either to get a MACBOOK PRO or a Windows powered laptop, they both have same specs:
T9300,250GB,8600MGT,4GB RAM but one has VISTA and the other has LEOPARD,i want to know which perform better for Photoshop CS3?
alo will Photoshop CS4 benefit from GPU too?
thanks
-
no difference.
-
And will CS4 stress on GPU too?
-
CS4 will work better on windows because it will utilize 64bit, whilst the mac version wont have support for 64bit, and yes CS4 will also use the GPU.
-
But i have heard that OSX LEOPARD is fully 64bit,am i wrong?

Hi Maziar,
The two most important factors in Photoshop is the processor and RAM, and if they're equivalent in both notebooks, then they'll be basically equivalent.
As for Photoshop CS4, it is confirmed to be 64-bit for Windows, but not 64-bit for Mac (which Adobe is pushing for CS5). The reason is, Apple dropped support for a form of coding that Adobe's Photoshop platform used, and instead Apple introduced a newer one (can't remember its names right now), so Adobe has to move its entire Photoshop code to the new programming platform, which is why they can't release 64-bit for Mac OS X in CS4.
Also, its been confirmed that Photoshop CS4 will utilize the graphics card, for better resizing, rotating, etc. Its all good!
And yes, Mac OS X Leopard is 64-bit.

Ok thanks alot for the help

CS3 is not a 64-bit app on Windows or Mac. CS4 will be available in 32 and 64 bit versions on Windows, and 32 bit on Mac. Adobe says they can't get a 64 bit version ready for Mac in time. Cocoa re-write this that and the other. Or, Adobe and Apple are in one of the "quietest" public wars ever. So they screw each other every chance they can. Flash player sucks for iPhone! CS4 will not be 64 bit for Mac! CS3 will be 2 years late! We are totally changing the OS! We are totally changing the CPU! At the end of the day, it's the kittens who suffer.
CS4 will allow some video card optimizations, but current CPUs are strong and the current PS does not really stress the video card that much.
All you really need for Photoshop:
ram - cheap
good CPU
higher res screen, the better
Personally, I find 1280x800 to be too small, and I'm increasingly unhappy with 1440x900 as well. Apple needs to put a 1680x1050 in the 15" MBP with the quickness, like, 3 years ago or something. -
Of course they said that about CS3 as well, yet CS3 runs perfectly well on my Sempron desktop for low to mid level type stuff. -
Thanks again for the replies guys

@Count - I would prefer a 1920x1200 in a 15" MBP for photoshop but I would go with a 1680x1050 too. My friend has 1680x1050 on his laptop and it is small, but still very good.
Which is better for Phtohsop CS3?
