I was just wondering which macbook pro would be more suitable for graphic design... 2.2ghz or 2.4ghz?
will be using CS3, Corel, etc.
I have to get a mac since school's about to start and the school uses macs...

The 2.2 GHz MacBook Pro will do those tasks fine. You won't be using the graphics card with those applications, so the extra VRAM in the 2.4 GHz version won't benefit. Get the 2.2 GHz version, its more than capable of running those tasks perfectly. Use the saved cash to get something else
.

You won't see a difference between 2.2 and 2.4, CS3 runs great on my VAIO (see sig) so you'll be fine

get the 17" one. u need to take a look at the viewing angle. as the viewing angle on laptop is not as good as IPS/PVA type screen, and colour distortion are to be expected, especially on vertical (up and down) angle. and that 2" bump in screen size will go a long way.
the 17" MBP screen is better than 15" MBP screen for graphic desing. -
I think it also depends on what kind of design you do.
The desktop system I use at home has a 2.84Ghz Core 2 Duo (Overclocked) and that handles pretty much everything I throw at it. Probably RAM and hard drive speed have just as big an impact on Photoshop performance as the processor, especially when working with large files.
And I agree with Wobble. You want the biggest screen you can carry/afford. I have a 24in 1920x1200 screen at home, and I am still considering getting another monitor so I can view e-mails and other materials when I am working. -
1680 resolution vs the high resolution 1920 resolution?

I've got a quad core Q6600 overclocked to 3.2 ghz with 4gb RAM as my desktop PC and actually unless I throw a really heavy workload at it there isn't that much difference between the MBP and my desktop performance wise.
I have to say that the 2.2 looks to be the besy value and I'd be surprised if it couldn't handle all of your requirements. Spend the extra on more memory. -
I am planning on getting the 2.2ghz and use the extra $500 on memory and maybe an extra monitor...

That's a very good idea, robertosee. With $500 you can get a nice 22-inch monitor and still have cash to spare.
