Which one win's the style contest-White MacBook or Aluminum?

Speaking only about style, (not performance, features, etc.) which style do you prefer, the White MacBook or the Aluminum one? I really don't know what got me thinking about it specifically but I just think the white one looks better, more "timeless"

Lol - maybe you should troll eBay and find one of the vintage lime or tangerine iMacs to go with it...

To each his own; for me it's the AL models all the way.

Aluminum all the way.

 

There is no contest. The Whitebook was good looking in its heyday, but it's now too thick compared to the unibody machines, has too many lines and gaps, and that massive white border around the LCD is just nasty --the black glass on the unibody at least looks decent.

Still, I think the whitebook is much better looking than 99% of PC laptops under $1200 though.

 

Interesting, I find my opinion to be the opposite, the black glass seems to be out of place with all the aluminum....oddly enough, that same look I love on the current iMac. *shrugs shoulders*

 

The black border is level with the LCD, since the glass covers both. However, on the whitebook, the thickness of the white bezel is especially noticeable because it sits higher than the screen. Everything about the whitebook now screams "last generation."

I actually don't like the black keyboard and glass bezel, but at least it looks modern.

 

I just recently purchased mine and after looking and playing a great deal, I decided to go with the Aluminum. I think style wise it is just so much more sexy than that plastic white version. I initially didn't really like the black keys against the aluminum case, but it has grown on me now. The illuminated keyboard totally ROCKS! I've had so many people see it lit up say.. WHOA that is freaking so cool. Yeah style wise the Aluminum wins solidly!

 

I would say Aluminum as well.

The white macbook already looks better than most laptops, but the unibody is much thinner and doesn't have seams.

I think the unibody is Apple's most innovative case design yet. I actually like the contrast of black and silver from the keys and screen. I also like how the white leds shows through black.

 

Yeah, i think the contrast is getting to me, if the keys were silver perhaps i'd like it!

 

I love the aluminum look, sleek and modern. very nice! The white macbook aint bad, but not my taste...though the white trim of antiglare screen macbook pro's is not the best but can tolerate that to get that screen

 

I love my aluminium MBP too. The metal just feels so much nicer than plastic.

 

I thought that was aluminum.... I saw some pics of the antiglare screened model on Engadget and it looked very nice

Aluminum all the way! Simply because it is aluminum and not plastic. I still baby my computer but am more relaxed about it because of how solid it is and I love how smooth it is, just nice in the hand! I think I was just tired of all of the plastic models but the white book did look good in its day!

 

My favorite laptop design of all time, is dare I say, the old 15" MacBook Pro. I find the black keyboard on the newer design to be less attractive, and I also prefer the matte screen (I'm glad they brought that option back on the new unibody 15"). I also prefer the squared off corners to the more rounded corners on the new models. To me, the original 15" MacBook Pro represents the pinnacle of Apple design.

As for the plastic vs. unibody aluminum, I don't see how anyone could prefer the cheap plastic MacBook to the newer aluminum design. Still I prefer the old MacBook Pro to the new design.

 

I'd say the white.... white never dates. As someone mentioned who could resist those tangerine and lime clam shells! Old has the hills, but still look oddly modern :S

 

I think the white polycarbonate Macbook has always been, and will continue to be, atrocious. I dunno, even the white iBooks looked better. The black one is moderate improvement but I still think they're uhhh-gly.
The unibody models looks so much better. I must say, the electroplating is expertly chosen (that's right... you're not touching raw aluminium...) - it has a nice texture to it, and it makes the body feel rigid to the touch when it really isn't.

I agree, ever since I saw an aluminum mbp at the Apple store, I think it's much more aesthetically pleasing than the white plastic.

i prefer the aluminium

while the white macbook is still pretty. the new aluminium macbook just look sharper and more sleek than its plastic counterparts, the quality seems better too, which adds to its beauty.

 

Vintage can be fashionable too can't it?

I like the aluminum. It's a very slick and smooth notebook. The illuminated keyboard is also very nice and I like the contrast and spacing of the keys to the aluminum color chassis.
