I dunno...=-( I visited a forum that discussed CO/MS OneNote. Some people were complaining about laggy issues and crashes. Can't have that happening during 3 hour lectures!

Okay, I've made a new thread for Apple's switchable graphics.

The PCB argument is ridiculous, since Sony puts chips on BOTH sides of the PCB in the VAIO Z (CPU & GPU on top, chipset on the other side).

    why not test it?

WIne is free.. Wineskin and WineBottler is free and easier ways to use it... Crossover is probably the best way to run Wine on a Mac overall (performance wise), and you can always download a free trial and see if you can get it to work. Getting anything to work in Wine isn't always super simple... but once its working, it should be good.

I said "not trivial", which is exactly what I'd say about what Sony did with the Z.

This is is almost what I'm looking for, except for the tacky exterior, the fact that it's 1.3 inches think, and 1-1.5 lbs heavier than i'm looking for. It's thicker than mbps, and just as heavy as the 13 inch, and it doesn't have an optical drive.

What I'd like is 11.6 screen, inch thick at most, 3-3.5 lbs, nice looking metal construction (think dm3 or mbp), culv and discrete (doesn't have to be a powerhouse 210m or 310m will do) or 9400m graphics.

There just isn't really a large enough market for such a laptop (apart from with gamers, but they need a more powerful dedi chip).

If you want a CULV and discrete graphics/9400M in an 11.6 inch system, you're going to be looking for a while, as far as I'm aware such a system doesn't exist (apart from with the M11x). The best you can really do is an ION platform (which does use an Atom processor), and you'll be VERY hard pushed to find one in a metal construction.

Don't know if you'll find one clad in metal, but I would guess we will be seeing someting like this being developed in the near future. I think NVIDIA has plans to use the Ion 2 with CULV processors in small factor devices. There were supposto be some 80 devices using it by Q4 this year. We'll see.

That article has been linked twice before already.
Some good information, though discrete graphics wouldn't affect the 10-hour maximum battery life figure due to switchable graphics anyway.
