I had been waiting for the revision of the macbook to buy my wife a new computer. I figured I'd but the new version if the revision was substantial (as rumors suggested it might be), or I'd buy the old one (at a discount, I thought) if the revision was minor.
Now that it's been revised and the revision was arguably minor, I'm happy buying a pre-revision macbook. But looking around the net, I can't find anywhere that is selling their older stock at reduced prices (other than refurbs through the apple store). Why is that?
Why are revised and pre-revision macbooks selling at the same price? Should I expect to see a dip in prices sometime soon, as stores attempt to clear out old stock?

You don't see many discounts on Apple products, not iTods or Macs. Maybe they do to keep up the brand image. ThinkPads are somewhat like this as well. A new T43 cost as much as a new T60 when that was released.
Usually the best place to get them with any regularity is refurbished on Apple's site, but that kind of sucks because you have to pay tax. Apple's refurbished products are good because you get the full warranty. I bought my Mac Mini and an iTod refurbished from Apple. Both looked brand new if you want to go that route. Only the box is marked Apple Recertified.
I did see a few months ago they had some older Macs discounted when the new ones came out at Frys.com. They were gone within a couple of hours so it could just be they go fast when they do get discounted. -
ZaZ, is the iTod a new interactive buddy?
jk.
But yes, get a refurbished model if you can, same great product, different low price. -
. He has a story behind it. ZaZ, do you call your iPhone an iThone?

You know it doesn't just roll off the tongue quite as well, so no.

Forgive me, but I have GOT to hear this story now.
If not a recap, can I at least get a link to maybe an earlier version?
Why no discount on old macbook models?
