I have a legedimat windows xp professional w/sp2 cd I just purchased from my friends college.

bootcamp keeps saying The installer cd was not found!

This is one of the reasons I went with mac and now 50 dollars later it still won't install windows?

It recognizes the cd because it shows it on the desktop when it is put in.

edited to add. The cd says June 2006 on it.

Duplicate the CD using Disk Utility and try using the copy to install. I had the same problem and that was how I corrected it. Search the Apple forums, that's where I found the solution, I think.

Did you run Boot Camp in Admin mode or Limited User. Admin is the way to go. Also, when is it saying it can't find the disc? Is it when you are trying to reboot per Boot Camp instructions or after the reboot when it is actually trying to install. Try just booting on your own and hold the option key. Then choose the Windows CD.

when it is first trying to install windows. the first time it asks for the cd. It will not even recognize it as a windows cd. I have no idea what is wrong.

I logged into my administrator account and still get the same message.

The installer CD could not be found
Insert your windows CD and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized. it already recognizes the cd :(

    UPDATE

Apparently it just hates my student copy of the CD. After clicking on it to accept the cd multiple times it is finally installing! Maybe the cd is slightly warped or something?

Does windows update work on the macbook?

Yes, once Windows is installed, it is a Windows machine. Everything, with the exception of a few driver quirks should work like you would expect.
