I'm gonna buy a new laptop.I don't think I need Leopard but I really concern about MBP's refresh.I prefer better performance than a new OS.Any ideas?

I don't think they're going to refresh the Macbook Pro until next year...
-
Ive read alot of rumors about the upcoming penryn processors going into the macbooks but probably not for a while 1-2months IMO. They just revamped them did they not?
-
Yeah, they will keep upgrading the darn thing, but as they just did i don't think it will happen this year, again
-
No, don't expect a MBP update until early next year, with the release of Penryn. The MacBook has a chance of being updated later this month or early next month, but the MBP is already up-to-date as is. So don't expect a MBP update until next year.
-
Look for the next upgrade to happen early next year. It will coincide with the release of the Intel Penryn CPU.
-
Leopard yes, hardware not anytime soon
-
Right on, Sam, as usual. The MBPs were updated a few months back...the macbooks will see updates first, of course. Next friday? Maybe, maybe not. More than likely not, since it would steal some of the thunder away from Leopard.
-
wouldn't that be funny if everyone was wrong and apple did release a new macbook pro?
-
Well, they would be in a bad predicament then
...do they release a new MBP in January with Penryn, and infuriate all the customers who bought a "new" MBP between now and then, or do they wait until say March or April to release a Penryn MBP, so there's enough time between the two updates, but then they'd be behind all the competitors who already updated to Penryn in January?
-
all the anticipation... this is going to the slowest week ever...
-
You're wrong. The slowest week ever will be when you find out how awesome everything will be, you order a Mac and then you're waiting for it to deliver. Waiting for it to deliver is going to be the longest time you've ever felt
.
-
Is there even rumors of a mobility penryn processor?
-
considering they are building a new CPU plant in northern china to build them i think its more than a rumor
-
It is not a rumor. They are due next year in Q1-Q2.
-
I'd love a 17" 2.8Ghz - 3.2Ghz whatever CPU, with 4-8Gb Ram, 500+Gb HDD and a nvidia 8800m (GTS or whatever) 512mb+ into a Macbook Pro. I know they can't fit this into a 15", but still...
I'd buy it this instant! -
With all that hardware, that MBP would get hot as hell, and then take off like a rocket! Just kidding. All those things (hardware upgrades) will happen eventually, it is just a matter of time....every 3-4 months there is something new coming out.
-
I doubt they'll launch a new MBPs tbh, I just hope they put out a new macbook or another awsome laptop at macbook's budget!
-
Lets not forget about the ultraportable MBP.
-
The one thing I see as a possibility is that they kill off the low end MBs and MBPs and set the pricing on the 15" 2.4 and the 13" 2.13 down a slight notch to the lower price. But even that is only remotely possible. Or lower the price of the low-end MBs and MBPs even more, though the MB is already as low as Apple would probably be willing to go on price-points.
-
noo I doubt it maybe in november if not then then its january for usre
-
the new 8800 gts are supposed to run cooler if i'm not mistaken. so it's a definite possibility that the new macbook pros would have it. i doubt this year though. apple needs to refresh the chassis also, the solid grey brick is getting a bit long in the tooth!
-
Well, if the MacBook does turn aluminum, then that means Apple is redirecting it to the prosumer market (just like they did with the iMac update), which if you ask me, should mean that the new MacBook would be the ultraportable MBP.
-
Is there a media event on Friday associated with the release of Leopard? If there is, it seems that they would be inclined to make some sort of significant announcement in addtion to Leopard. Jobs already demo'ed Leopard last summer at WWDC, and there is already an online demo that you can watch online. I can't believe they would just do another Leopard demo.
If there's no media event, then I wouldn't expect any decent hardware upgrades (unless the MacBook has been demoted to getting a silent refresh like the Mac Mini
).
-
There is no media event Friday (and I'd say it'd be too risky to send an invitation just now).
Will Apple refresh Macbook Pro next Friday?
