I'm excited about my next and soon-to-arrive laptop being an MBP 13"/2011 release. I love my T400 but my wife has commandeered it for school. Now, as my fingers play across its awesome and familiar keyboard, I worry what it will feel like adjusting to the MBP chicklets. Perhaps I'm getting sentimental or homesick -- for those who use both, how's the transition between these two keypads?

For me it has been no problem whatsoever.
I don't even perceive a preference. -
The MBP definitely has one of the best chicklet keyboards out there, but I still prefer the feel of the keyboard on my ThinkPad.
-
it is okay, you will get to use to it eventually like most keyboards you use.
-
you'll get used to it.

the external Apple keyboard with the chicklet keys are pretty bad, but it does look good.

I love the keyboards Apple uses now.. their old ones weren't that great, but the current Macbook Pro keyboards, and the external keyboards are great for typing on to me... you need to try it out awhile to see if its good for you tough, since everyone has different hands

I still prefer the keyboards on the pre-unibody designed MBP's. To me, best keyboard I'd ever used (with the ThinkPad keyboard coming in a close second). That said, it shouldn't be a big issue for you switching from one to the other. You'll get familiar with it before long.

Thanks, friends. I'll follow up!

I like the 'keys' on the unibody macbook pros fine. I don't have any trouble typing on them, like the backlight and they have a good solid feel although the travel could be slightly better.
That said, I REALLY miss some of the keys that apple chooses to leave off their notebook keyboards. Dedicated pgup/pgdn/home/end/backspace/delete keys for example. Their all key combinations on the mac notebook keyboards. I do alot of desktop publishing and software development and have found that I do ALOT less of it since I got my macbook pro. I just tend to avoid the mac for such tasks as it can become tedius so I use a desktop instead. It changed how i work alot more than I thought it would. -
It's a solid keyboard that will become very comfortable to use once you get used to it. When I first got a unibody MacBook I was coming from a T61 and it was definitely "different", not bad but "different" than the old, reliable ThinkPad keyboard.

i like the pre-unibody keyboard of MBP, it is very light and for people whom have a faster reflex can type quite fast on it. I personally don't like the chicklet keyboard and the key mechanisms, but it is a personal preference.
I guess you can get use to almost any type of keyboards if you use them long enough. -
What really bugs me is that Apple doesn't include those keys on its wireless external keyboard either. Would it kill them to add just a little bit more function to form?
Will I get used to MBP Keyboard?
