I was wondering if the Logic board (C2D) will fit the older gen MPB pro (CoreDUO).

I've got a model number A1150 Core Duo Macbook Pro with 2ghz Core Duo...and so on.

I was wondering if the rest of the parts are compatible?

I don't have the warranty left would like to stock on some parts like the DVD drive, sound board and so on if i can get it for cheap.

say will parts from A1211 fit the A1150 MBP?

It is doubtful since they changed a lot between the CoreDuo and Core2Duo models, especially cooling-wise. The place to look is ifixit.com, they have pictures and detailed instructions.

As for other parts, most are going to probably be compatible.

**EDIT** After looking real quick, the logic boards for sale on ifixit are close to $1000. For that amount, you are probably better off buying a new MBP.

Let's assume that the new C2D logic board is not $1000.

what would you like to assume it is?

    $150?

    ----
you should definitely buy one at that price!
    ----

but seriously, its going to cost $1000 for the new logic board.

The logic board of Core 2 Duo MBP will not fit inside the original Core Duo MBP. The addition of the Firewire 800 port means the case isn't even laid out right. Plus there has been other changes like I believe the right speaker now goes through the motherboard instead of resting on top and the location of the bluetooth module has changed.

After comparing the pics, it seems it's not gonna work :(. I was just wondering because a buddy of mine busted his macbook pro and is parting it out. $300 for the logic board.

Probably not even worth the change even if it was compatible.

    Thanks for the replies.
