Just like the long title said. Since the Macbooks are in black and white, shouldn't the Pros come in black soon as well?

And will the Macbooks come in different sizes because the Ibooks came in 12 and 14 inch flavors and will the Pros come in 12 inch flavors like the Powerbooks did?

No one knows anything about future products and anything anyone says here is likely to be baseless conjecture. That said, the Apple VP said that the white models were designed to replace iBooks and the black one was designed to replace the 12" Powerbook. He said their notebook line was complete, so don't expect anything anytime soon.

I doubt it, the pros are known for that titanium look, just like the powerbooks.

I concur with Reize - Apple is probably going to stay with the grayish, titanium look for the MacBook Pros (hence the word "pro"). The MacBooks are the ones that may come out with different colors besides black and white - Apple used to make iBooks that were green and pink, but that was a while back.

I also doubt there will be very few (if any) other screen sizes offered. Apple has been notorious for keeping their product line very simplified since the return of Steve Jobs. He believed that having so many different products in each category made it too confusing for the consumer. So having one size in each line would be right in keepng with his "K.I.S.S." philosiphy. But if demand is strong enough, who knows?

yeah.. i really want to know if they will bring out a black pro. If they do bring out a black pro then I would buy it. The 13" screen of the mac book is just a little bit too small for me..

Oh yes black looks so much better

My 2 cents (since this post is all about speculation) is that:

    Black MacbookPro- no
    Different sizes Macbook-no
    Different sizes MBPro- yes

I'd still choose the Alm-Titanium finish over the black matted finish anyway. Why black matted? Apple screwed this one up IMO. Think if they just made it black with that beautiful clear-magnesium plastic cover over it. In essence a true black ibook. It would have been drop dead gorgeous.

Apple should have done this when it released the MBPro. Why not?! They were jumping processors/ archecture that they had been behind for over a decade. They invested so much time/research/ advertising $ into PowerPc and then they jumped to their "enemy" Intel. That is a amazingly BALLSY move!

Then what? They release their first laptop with the new processor in a 3yr old form factor. SNOOZEVILLE!

We are already hearing that the black finish is scratching off. Remember the first Titanium g4's? Same thing.. This may be too soon to guess but I predict a huge backlash against Apple. I don't mean to thread crap on Apple but charging 200 bucks more for (what may prove to be a cheap) paintjob and a 20 gig hardrive space is greedy-IMO.

Sorry guys for going offtopic, overgeneralizing, misspelling and basicly rambling but this stuff is my passion. :p

do you own a black ipod nano? imagine that shiny crap all artound a laptop that gets pushed around desks, thrown into cases with chords and other crap, it would be scratch central, thank you apple for not putting that clear coat on the macbook

and as far as the flaking thing, I saw that ONE incident online also, after work i went to the apple store, went straight to the black macbook and scratched the hell out of it with my fingernal, guess what, nothing happened, not even a friggin mark

isolated incidents my friend, they happen, especailly when a product is 24 hours old

i predict no suc h backlash, the black macbooks are completely sold out everywhere, people are more then willing to pay the extra 150 for the absolute beauty that the black macbook is (the matte black is just insanely gorgeous, much better then a shiny black ipod looking thing)

Awww what do I know anyway. It's just opinion (and u know what they say about opinions :) ) I did mention that my posting was IMO, and the paint issue is at this point, unsubstantiated.

It comes down to personal taste. I'd rather have a scratched up casing than one with the paint flaking off. I have owned a g3 ibook and 2nd generation Ipod- sure they scratched but I guess it didn't seem that bad because of ur point they weren't black like the nano.

Lastly I don't think u should rule-out a back lash, and that's not a crack against Apple. Remember, there was that stupid lawsuit for their ipod's high volumes- hilarious.
    peace....
