I thought all 2.5 in HDs were the same size, so why should anyone not "fit"?

Seems that I've read that some are a little bit thicker?

The MBP case is tight, even a couple few milimeters could ruin the deal.

I thought they were all the same size too, and most of them probably are.

Some 2.5" drives are 11mm tall, versus the standard 9.5mm. Also, connector type may not make it "fit".

You can get a god 250GB HDD at newegg.com for cheaper than that btw.
    I'm thinking about doing it.

    that 200GB one is 7200rpm

    there's a 320GB 5400rpm drive trying to hit the channels at $200-$210.

For price, you can't beat the 250Gb western digital passport external drive. They are quite easy to pull apart with your fingernails or a small flat head screw driver, and then you can just swap the two S-ata drives. I recently did this upgrade with my mb. The bonus is that I have a nice external hdd case for the old internal drive!

I looked into that... I'm leaning towards a 7200rpm drive at the moment, although that is not set in stone... I know these newer higher capacity 5400rpm drives using perpendicular records and with their higher platter density are much better performers than the 120GB I have in my MBP now...

I'm thinking 200GB 7200rpm internal (I dual boot OSX and Vista) and external storage should do the trick.

I don't have a desktop anymore, so, I'd like the slight bump from a 7200rpm internal drive. I light game and do a lot of CS3 work with media files...
