Just wondering what everyone's upgrade plans are?
Personally, Leopard is awesome for me, and i'm scared that my current software won't work on Snow Leopard, like Pixelmator or Office 2008. I'm also scared of teething problems.
So overall, I think I might hang back a while and see how it goes....
What about you?

-
besides that, I'm with you on the hang back a while and see how it goes before I upgrade. -
Not unless it is $20 or less. If not I'll get it when my school starts selling the unlimited license copies.
-
It'll depend on pricing and what I hear about it. So far its promising, and it does seem it'll be cheaper than the regular $129 for a new Mac OS. I'm not on Leopard so I'm more inclined to get Snow Leopard.
-
very much depends on the price, if its reasonable, then i will go ahead, i do hope they give free upgrades to recent buyers, but thats just wishful thinking
-
maybe wait like few weeks until some reviews come out
-
Prob wait a month or 2 unless alot of customers upgrade fast and need support
-
I won't upgrade anytime this year. I'm happy with leopard right now, and will upgrade only when absolutely necessary
-
It will probably go the same as the upgrade to Tiger for me. I will wait a few months until I have a little extra cash to spend and in the mean time allow them to work out all the inevitable little bugs that made it through testing.
-
I think software compatibility issues will be non-existent. I am really excited for Open CL and Grand Central. Hopefully we will see some GPU accelerated Photoshop and video encoding soon.
-
I'm actually thinking about buying the new mac pros when snow leopard ships with it.

Leopard was buggier than crap when it was released, although over about three months most of the major issues were corrected. I think there was a fair bit of backlash from Apple users (Leopard was Apple's "Vista" although no where near as bad and corrected much faster).
I think Apple learned something which is why they are concentrating on efficiency and reliability in SL so I am hopeful this will be a pretty solid release and plan to go to it fairly quickly. -
I already have the dough... now where is my snow leopard!!?!
-
Its Apple we're talking about!
They don't get things wrong like Microsoft (I'm not saying there perfect)
Ofcourse I'll upgrade, I'll camp outside the store! -
when you put No then the choice should be like dont want to or s ome other reason
-
I may wait a couple of days for first reviews but will be upgrading my systems rather quickly.
-
-
So if you don't plan on getting Snow Leopard, this thread is not for you. Sorry.
-
so what are the new features?
cause if its only performance enhancements i don't think i really need it -

- Full 64 bit
- Transitioning older bits (Finder etc) to Coca
- Smaller/Faster/More Reliable
- Mail and iCal get MS Exchange support (this is one I hope is true).
Lost more small things I don't recall but not a lot of major stuff. -
I expect that I'll wait - I don't really see a killer feature in Snow Leopard at the moment.
-
meh.. wouldnt pay more than 100 bucks, unless it drastically improves vmware..
-
I'm a computer speed junky so I will get it immediately for that speed increase. I'll probably do a clean install too (with the new disk format). Leopard already runs fantastically so it will be interesting to see how snow leopard goes. Hopefully it will be less than $100.
-
yeah, hopefully the SSD drives will also be a lot cheaper by then
-
I thought the question was simply - Will you upgrade to Snow.. -
I'm worried my hard ware won't be able to handle it.
kidding...I'll get it when it becomes available at Best Buy. -
i'll hold on until i get rich enough to buy it.
-
It'll be like $100...I don't understand why everyone is complaining about being so poor. Seriously.
-
I'll hold off for a while. I've still got a G4 and I don't want to upgrade the others only to find that allofasudden the G4 can't come to the screen sharing party any more. I need to read some reviews first. If it's faster and supports the PPC, I'll get it sooner. If it's faster and doesn't support PPC, I've got some thinking to do. If it's not faster, then it better bring something to the table I really need or want or I'll sit this one out.
-
But I'm sure most Mac owners can afford it.. Am I right .. -
. I'd upgrade .
-
Since most Mac users could actually afford a mac, i'd assume they could afford the $100 for Snow Leopard
-
Similarly, I wouldn't mind if camera manufacturers started really working on improving photo quality and reducing noise, rather than just adding more and more megapixels. -
After all, 32bit will be alive on PC's for some time, but with Mac's, it will be all but extinct in a few years.
That's another reason i like macs. The speed of development is much faster than PC's -
-
i really hope snow leopard is going to be great
-
I'll get it within a week or two. I'll have to make sure that some of my apps are compatible, and I'll be ready to go.
I intend to get alot of benefit out of Snow Leopard, with my 8 cores and all -
Well this adds a new spin to this poll. AppleInsider is reporting that a Snow Leopard UI overhaul will be announced. That should change some opinions I think.
-
-
I'm hanging back on this upgrade because I don't use my MBP as much as I'd like to at this time. I find myself using my desktop more since I'm at home more often these days.
-
-
I'll definately get it the first day it comes out.
Will you upgrade to Snow Leopard right away?
