I'm a bit confused on why this happened to me but here's what happened. I recently got a WD 320 gb hd for my 2.2 MBP. I was running vista with bootcamp before and my processor and ram was scored 5.1 and 4.9 respectively. After i installed the new HD, reloaded OSX and then reinstalled bootcamp, i noticed that the Windows experience index for my processor and ram dropped to 4.4 and 4.7. Now i can understand changes for the hard drive or video card through changes in drivers but i did not upgrade my ram and we can't obviously upgrade our processors. Has this happened to anyone?Or is windows just being retarded and messing with me.

Who freaking cares (about WEI, not about your post)...WEI is a useless benchmark.
-
I agree with you but it is annoying that it drops. On my U6, it dropped because of an outdated driver and a stupid Norton scan in the background
.
-
amen personally I would like to see it be abolished...
-
WEI is an utter joke and to celebrate it's arrival I leave it set to 1.0 just to show what little regard I have for it. You know the benchmark is such a joke when your overall score is based on your lowest score.
Nice going Microsoft.
-
Ram may drop from chipset drivers , try update those.
-
I wouldn't spend the effort to try and pacify WEI when everything is working. WEI is such a joke.
-
Me too, i hate it that they added this index. I guess i am just very OCD and it bothers me that it has gone down. I know everyone in this thread is telling me to forget it but it still bothers me
.
I'm upgrading the bootcamp drivers now, i hope this will fix it. -
You cant take WEI seriously, its pathetic. WEI gets its scores from this weeks winning lotto numbers.
Run real benchmarks like PCMARK, 3DMARK, HDTUNE.
If it helps your OCD, you can edit the WEI file and change your scores to 9.9 -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
they added in a dumb random number generator benchmark into windows so that people would get freaked out all the time.
it doesn't mean ANYTHING. just let it go. -
It's not so easy for someone with OCD.
-
Thanks for understanding, i went in and i changed the XML file that holds the WEI. Call me weak-minded but it makes me feel better. I'm going to run a 3dmark and hopefully nothing changed there. Thanks guys.

Another vote from the "Who Freaking Cares" department!!
WINDOWS SUCKS!!!
(So does their arbitrary "Index")
-
i think that random # generator works with windows error blue screens too!
just randomly, welcome to BSOD! -
Still, I think it is disconcerting that the OPs scores dropped after updating. As bad as WEI is, it will still give you an acurate representation of performance on your own machine.
Perhaps you people would be a lot more useful if you tried to help the OPs performance problem, rather than just bash windows. -
I spent many years defending Windows from the Mac fanboys......then I found out that the grass truly is greener on the other side!
BOOO WINDOWS! LOL
(Laugh a little, it makes life easier to get through) -
thanks for your post. I should have also pointed out that i did reformat windows twice. Once using 64 bit and a 32 bit. Both times resulted in the same score.
Frankly all this windows bashing is kind of absurd. It's just a OS
