sorry to bring up this age-old question again...
...but i was wondering if there was anyway to get the macbook pro(2010) to use windows with its integrated graphics. mainly to get more battery life.
i'm willing to go pretty drastic on this whole thing. would taking out the discrete card work? are there custom bootcamp drivers available? basically, is there any way to get somewhere closer to the life expectancy of macbook pros running OS X(the 4 hour+ realm)?
ps, anyone have any benchmarks of battery life with windows 7?

I don't think anyone has got the integrated graphics card to work with Windows.
Also, Windows is not optimized to run on a Mac so you will never get the same amount of battery life. -
There's no way to get the integrated gpu to work on windows. You cannot disconnect the dedicated gpu as it's soldered on board. you will get approximately 4hrs run time on windows. May be less if you have not activated the power saving features. you wont be able to use your mac on your lap due to the excess heat generated. Get a windows pc to be hassle free

Maybe some clever programmer will get optimus to work with the macbook pros.
Or.... *gasp*
Apple will release some kind of optimus diver (hahahahahah!) -
I'm planning to run VMware on my MBP 13. Will I run into any issues while trynig to run a Windows-only program like OneNote?

The new mbp's do not come with nvidia optimus. It's apple's customised version of automatic gpu switching. It uses a separate controller to decide which program requires a dedicated gpu. i was like you once. waiting for some clever programmer to enable the 9400m in windows. I dont think we'll see an intel hd so soon on bootcamp.
Yes, it will run fine. -
Awesome. If I need to do any moderately graphics-heavy work, it's OS X all the way.
Now if that fleabay seller could hurry up and ship that Win7 box...
