In Downloads I have a folder called video and other videos. Sometimes I want to go up a directory from the video folder back to just downloads to access one of my other folders.

Is there a one button click somewhere to go up a directory structure/folder?

You can add a "Path" icon to the taskbar of Finder, which, when clicked on, will let you go anywhere upwards in the path of the folder you're in. I don't know if there's a single button to press or keystroke, but that's pretty close...

To do this, just right-click the top of a Finder window and hit "Customize Toolbar..."

Either click on the name of the Downloads folder, or use Alt+Up.

In Column view you'd see the contents of both folders side by side?

Or have I misinterpreted your question?

I would use column view. That is the easiest way to go up a level I think.

Thanks. I added Path to the tool bar and that lets me go up one. I really only use column view.
