    Hi
I am thinking whether if i should get leopard or not. I have heard that leopard is a 64bit OS and would only run faster on core2duo computers, is this true? Also my main concern is whether if running leopard on my 1.0ghz powerpc would slows things down significantly? Thank you

If Tiger runs well, I don't see any reason why Leopard wouldn't.

I don't think you'll see a major difference either way- faster or slower.

They did make a lot of multicore improvements to Leopard, but you have a single core.

I don't think it will run slower, but I also don't think you'll see the "speed bump" that many are claiming on multicore CPUs.

According to engadget, it feels snappy on powerbooks @ 1.3GHz.

It will be slower on a PowerPC Mac, yes, but mostly because the clock speeds for the PowerPCs aren't as high. But Leopard should run fine on the G4 PowerPC Macs as well.

    thank you
i know it should be fine but would there be a significant drop in performance? haha
cuz my laptop is already pretty slow in todays standards. I don't wanna shell out 100 bucks and all i get in return is a slower laptop.

I reading that Leopard on single core G4 computers "is like a new lease on life."

Sounds like G4 owners do see performance improvements.

Woo! Hopefully, video decoding and flash performance will get better as well.
