I often wonder this. Would the world be more efficient and more creative if everyone used Macs or does it matter?

My personal philosophy is that the world would be a better place if online forums were less cluttered with useless posts.....
But of course that's not relevant here, sorry. -
well there would be no OS arguments, but everyone would be much more miserable.
-
yes and no..... and poor people wouldnt have computers and macs would have tons of viruese and crap
-
The world would be a better place if we didn't have computers at all.
-
Hahaha.
The veiled sarcasm is just biting, odin.
This is like those what if every disease was cured or what if there was no war questions. Who can know without living in such a world? Far too many variables. -
The world would be more efficient and more creative only if there were more more efficient and more creative people...
However, if we judge from this thread it seems that the world is going in the opposite direction... actually, no... only some people.
-
I'm undecided if I want to pretend to take the OP seriously and actually offer a serious answer analyzing all the reasons this would be a horrible idea...or just add another useless post mocking it.
Upon further reflection, I think I'll just go with the latter route.
Everyone should just ditch their computers and opt for either the one in my avatar or the one in my sig
-
Well, if everyone used Macs, I fear it would be the same as what Windows is now; full of problems and issues, because the market is just too big and too complex for one company to handle. OS X would become Windows; driver issues, security issues, etc.

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
my thoughts exactaly. and if that was the case, then i'd propbably go to linux. i just dont like doing what everybody else does, i like the different smaller community type things, if you get what im saying. -
The "creative" thing does not hold water. It's a legacy opinion that has been out of date for quite some time. Last time I checked, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Dreamweaver, Avid, Premiere Pro, Cinema 4d and Maya all worked on both Mac and PC.
3d Studio Max and SoftImage work on PC and not Mac, and more CAD software works on PC, so, perhaps PC is the more creative platform?
That said, the Mac is more "elegant," whatever that means, and Vista, which I have used since its release, is underwhelming, and that's being kind. -

But I feel like I'm cutting myself off form the rest of the civilization if I decided to leave Windows... But now I'm starting to feel like there's a smaller, yet better civilization to welcome me in. -
Not exactly...you'd be amazed at how much software is for the Mac (OS X has about 5% worldwide market share, but certainly has more than 5% of the software). And its not like any file you do on the Mac will not work on the PC; most files are compatible on both sides.

Boo to you guys for actually turning this into a semi-serious discussion.
Let's face it. Neither Apple nor Microsoft are particularly creative or innovative in the OS side of things anymore - at least not for the past couple of years. They've both been in the market for ages and just about everything we've seen recently has been merely evolutionary steps up - nothing revolutionary.
It's time for some fresh blood! -
Posting on computer forums would become boring if everyone used machines from the same maker - no matter which one. No petty arguments about which was better, no flaming, no attacks on builder's integrity, etc, etc. No fun at all.

Apple is no better than Microsoft in many regards. They may make a better product in some respects, but they do so by limiting customer choice. It doesn't bother me with laptops, but it doesn't work so well in the desktop arena IMO.
Besides, equal volume of variety is what I wish for. That way people could run whatever OS they want (Linux, Windows, BSD, OS X, Solaris, whatever...) and they would all be mostly compatible. That's what standards are for, but Microsoft seems to have missed that memo in many regards, which is where my problem with them lies. -
Should I assume then that there are no tablets, no ultraportables, no UMPCs, and only 3 laptops in this world (Macbook, MBP 15", and MBP 17"), none of which cost under $1000? (And probably much more due to the lack of competition.) And none offer fingerprint readers, docking stations, media bay batteries, or HD-DVD or Blu-ray drives yet? And fewer people are able to afford a computer due to the higher base prices? (Forget the OLPC or even the forthcoming Asus eee.) And no upgrading your graphics card, unless you get a $2000+ Mac Pro? And it's impossible to build a desktop computer? And all the shops and compaines selling custom-built computers are out of business? And if I want to replace my desktop computer, I have to replace the display as well, because it's most likely attached?
No thanks. -
think different

^Definitely . . .

If there were only Mac's fewer people would have computers becuase of price. And I would still be of the belief that WiFi was created by Satan to test humanity.....
And of course if Mac's OS would become mainstream they would be just as bad as today's big culprit Windows
Would the world be a better place if everyone used Mac?
