This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Wouldn't the MBP 17" make more sense if...

    I think a 6850M would be cool on the 17". But that would be about the maximum performance card they could reasonably do, and they likely would need to redesign the cooling system and include a beefed up power supply with it.

    I think Apple is probably going to use the iCloud servers for games rendering and maybe general purpose CPU services. Look at OnLive to see where we're going. True, that would require a fast internet connection, but with 4G LTE, that probably is going to be a non-issue. I imagine that one day, you'll have an iPad (with no heat) that will run games better than a SLI GTX 590M desktop monster.
