i've been playing far cry 2 for 4 hours. i shut down the game, my temp is 79-80 degrees celcius which is perfectly normal when gaming on the macbook pro. i don't know why i wanted to look through the vents. i turn my laptop and look through. i saw this yellow light. its approximately under the R and F keys on the keyboard. i turn my laptop and look closely on the keyboard and it's illuminated white. no sign of the yellow light. Thus, to resume, i saw it only when looking through the vents. does anybody know what is this light? what is causing it to light up? i smelled closely but no burning smell. in fact, i cant smell any weird odour. is it harmful for my macbook pro?

Does your MBP have a yellow light anywhere on it's chassis?
For instance, when I look through my laptop's vents at a certain angle, I can see a blue light coming from my wireless indicator light.

Otherwise, some motherboards have a light on them to indicate when it's turned on.

nope. only green light for the battery indicator and white light for the keyboard backlighting. MBP users, please reply if you can see the yellow light through your vents. it's the unibody one.

I think you may be seeing light reflecting off something yellow rather than a yellow light. Here is a link to a site that took apart the MBP and I do not see any yellow lights.

I really doubt a computer could produce such high temperatures.

Try one..these graphics cards release lots of heat. and its gddr3 and combined with the thinness and metallic enclosure of the macbook pro, temperatures could even go to 80 degrees celcius.the coolest temperature i got on vista was 54 degrees celcius and it idles most often on 58-60 degrees celcius

just dont throw water on it!

seriously, are you really worried about something like this? Its probably your keyboard light reflecting off of the clear yellow tape they use inside.

It's actually Steve Jobs looking through a little camera watching you and recording your every move ---

The "Yellow Light" is the "legal indicator" that he's online at that moment !!!!!!

im willing to bet that they are just LEDs that are built into the circuitry for quick quality control purposes. one way to tell if a gfx chip - or any kind of electronic device - is working correctly is to have LED indicator lights that light up if everything is a-ok. that way someone can just scan a whole crapload of devices quickly as they make it down the conveyor belt.
