if i am breaking any rules speculating then mods can pls close the thread.
was just wondering what features do u personally find being useful in the next generation of mbp?
for me..i personally find NFC feature very useful where i can tap and transfer information over bluetooth.
and most windows 8 laptops like Dell XPS 15 have it i think.

Oh I think we can let this thread go on. after all it is purely speculation and guesses as to what we may see next.
I would say my most realistic thing I could anticipate is wireless display support without an Apple TV or anything. I see WiDi all over and cheap tiny Widi modules for TV's I could really use in my work without lugging my aTV around and fighting with more cables. -
More USB ports please!!! and if you want to only go with two I need more space between the HDMI and the USB so I can use both at the same time
I use a wireless HDMI dongle sometimes and I currently have to use a long USB cord to power the dongle from the opposite side USB.
Other then that I love my Macbook Pro Retina! Probably a current gen GPU, and stay with Nvidia don't go to AMD!!! -
I'm on the same line of thinking as KCETech1: Nothing much, maybe something wireless-related like WiDi or NFC.
I doubt more ports will happen; it goes against Apple's minimalist mantra. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
my most anticipated feature is.... a keyboard.
anyway... its just a spec bump, probably nothing will be changed, meaning chassis and other related hardware will be the same.
So changes will be inserting new tech, like the wireless charging, field communication, however... not a thing from apple have that. so they probably won't be there. -
Cherry MX keys would be nice.
I think that the current RMBP is great. I'm hoping Broadwell may make things a little lighter and a little cooler. The RMBPs (15) have way more compute power than I need (which is why I'm using a 6-year-old MBP).
I'll get an external Cherry MX Keyboard if I upgrade my MBP. I like the keys on my MacBook Pro over the chiclet style. -

I'd like a real "pro" MacBook with a workstation GPU (don't care if its AMD or Nvidia) and the proper cooling to go with it.
Heaven forbid this model is a little thicker and heavier (5-6lbs is fine) to facilitate that cooling.
This model can skip the retina display and stick with 1080p, or better yet 1920x1200.
I'd also like them to return a multi-user network-enabled prompt-only mode for advanced users. (a feature of FreeBSD removed from MacOS for some odd reason) -

i hog up lot of USB ports but surprisingly i have been managing very well with 2 ports ..the main reason being that i havent felt the need to use external mouse as trackpad is very good.
as for wireless display technology..yes..i think there has to be more universal ways to project the screen..i use Apple TV currently but if i visit someone else's office, they might not have it.
I am still debating if a touchscreen would make any improvement to the way we use the OS.
Other than that, I think a move towards bigger support for wireless technology will allow them to make the macbook more compact -

Is Apple even expected to release a new rMBP this year? (I'm thinking the 15" one is already great... Why bother upgrading so soon.)

An nvidia 860 maxwell GPU is my most wanted new feature

I hope all you "professionals" are fully aware that ATi/AMD is the king of mobile professional graphics horsepower. nvidia nerfed their GTX series cards back in 2011/2012 and separated professional processing into the quadro cards and gaming power into the GTX cards. AMD cards manage to do both. You don't believe me? read: In Review: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M, GTX 770M & GTX 765M - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

we have been tracking Pro app performance for awhile actually. just have not updated the info for awhile ssince there has been no architecture changes
680m=780m=880m in very close approximation as where the 7970=8970 with in a miniscule percentage. k1100m roughly equates the k2000m as where the rest of the Kx100m = about 20% up over the Kx000m series.

even our little friend Photoshop can in many filters and effects be 150-300% faster on a K1100m over the 780m -

I would love for a 17" MacBook Pro to make a return, but I know that's not going to happen
. I would also like to see some more USB ports and an even better quality/more vibrant screen. Extra RAM (24-32 GB) wouldn't hurt either. Regardless of what most say around here, I love my MacBook Pro, and I will gladly take the tradeoffs of working on a Mac over a workstation PC any day (coming from a former diehard PC guy). Others may disagree, but I'm not going to let all of the MacBook Pro negativity make me feel bad about being completely satisfied with my purchase. I will spend time enjoying my MacBook Pro while everyone else can spend their time throwing out stats and numbers on why it's not all that compared to workstation PCs (I'm still not exactly sure what all that accomplishes in the APPLE/MAC forum though).

Subjective feelings fall into a different category that objectivity doesn't really have an impact on for most people. If the numbers are bothersome, oh well, IMO. -

Macs are perfectly fine for professional graphics work, BTW. There was also a post by someone on this very forum that said he runs SolidWorks in a production environment on a Mac with complex files just fine. Is it as good as a professional workstation? Probably not, but some "knowledgeable people" were saying that running a 3D program on a MacBook Pro was basically impossible, and that got debunked real quick.
To counter your point, this isn't the WNSIB thread/forum. This is the: " Your most anticipated feature(s) on new MacBook Pro 2014?" thread, and I see off-topic Apple/MacBook bashing for no reason at all.
People just love to over-exaggerate because of blind hate. Again, it is what it is, I just don't see the end-game in all of it. -
New USB standard reversible ports. 10 GB bidirectional bandwidth, up to 100 W power supply. They may be out this spring.
