Just got a G4 Powerbook 15" 1.5ghz with superdrive. I'll want wireless internet in my apartment. Is there any reason to spend $200 on the Airport Extreme base station when I can get other 802.11g routers for much less? Plus, my roommate runs a PC, will this be a problem?

Shop around. A bunch of the 802.11g wireless routers are available for much less. The new AirPort Express is a better deal, and will allow you to wirelessly print to a USB printer. It's the only Apple base station that I would buy. (Still they list for $129.) I'm using a Netgear 802.11b router now with both an IBM Thinkpad as well as an Apple PowerBook, plus two other Macs are hooked up to it via Cat 5 cable. Both computers work great with this base station. The "g" routers are out there for about $40 after rebate. I like our Netgear since it has four 10/100 ethernet ports as well as the wireless antenna.
