I downloaded firefox last week, and everytime I open it, a box pops up instructing me to drag a file to applications, which I've already done. The box is really starting to get on my nerves and slows down the time it takes to start up the internet, so what should I do to make it go away? Thanks

Drag what file to applications?
Perhaps try to reinstall Firefox? I haven't heard of such an issue before. -
Open the Finder and Click the Eject button next to the Firefox drive. Then you should delete the 'Firefox 2.0.0.5.dmg' (or whatever version you have) from your computer.
You should Run Firefox from the Applications Folder. -

someone recently had the exact same problem as you http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=140803&highlight=firefox+applications+folder
you havent installed firefox properly yet... you need to do what the box tells you and drag it to the applications folder... if you have done this already then run firefox from apps, not by clicking on the folder on your desktop (which you can delete) -
So I shouldn't have firefox saved in the dock?

^^ That is perfectly fine, as long as it is a link from the Applications Folder and not the .dmg. If you Right-Click the Firefox icon in your dock and select Show in Finder it should lead you to the Applications Folder.

it sounds like you might have saved the firefox drive to your dock instead of the application...
check it is in the applications folder. if it is then delete the drive from your desktop, remove from the dock, and then run firefox from applications.
if that works ok, then you can add firefox to the dock - the correct instance
