anyone? there are rumors about next refresh of MBP. maybe it will happen soon. (at the end of 2007, maybe?)
a) Intel just announced its next gen cpu will be available in Nov 2007.
b) macbook line will probably be upgraded in October, so the gap between MB and MBP will be reduced. taking the relatively big price difference into account, apple should do sth then.
c) maybe a little bugs get fixed,
d) more powerful GPU comes out
thought about lenovo T61 before, and read some reviews, the lcd cover is not titanium composite anymore.
I have been a PC guy for, idon't remember how many years, just want to do a switch.
found MBP is gorgeous/
what do you guys think?
should i wait?
BTW, If I buy it now, i could get a nano for free.

I don't think you should wait unless you really can. By the time the MacBook Pro updated, you'll be waiting for the next "cool" update and you'll never end up getting it
.
If you need the MacBook Pro for school now, then get it now. -
well, if you buy newer stuff, you also get new problems/bugs, so it is best if you buy a matured system, new is not always better, of course there are exception... but i think in the technology sector nowdays are getting ridiculously renewed quickly, every +/_ 4 months is it? that waiting is usually not worth the wait.
btw, i've just forgot about the new MAC OS Xwhich is usually renewed every year or so. the new leopard is around the corner. though again i think it is not worth the wait.. coz of the bugs that is inevitable with every new system.

wow, apple marketing guru is smart! LOL!
-
I totally agree if you need it and you can afford it why wait -
How many of these posts have we seen already? lol...

i think people just need that extra affirmation from others. I notice that these threads are mostly about people that are on the fence, and just need that extra shove.
-
I understand what you mean, but most of these threads address similar, if not identical, concerns from perspective buyers. In addition to that, there are many threads on these board, both old and new, which are easily accessible.

yeah, I am because my 4.5 year computer is still running great.
It's the only thing keeping me from getting a macbook pro right now. -
Well if the refresh actually happened in November I'd probably wait myself, but everything I have heard points to November only for the new Intel desktop & server CPUs, with mobile CPUs hitting it Q1 2008. Personally that's longer than I am willing to wait (basically 5-6 months). Now, if we new for sure that new MBPs would happen in Dec/Jan and include an updated GPU and increased screen resolution on the 15", I'd wait but since I could potentially wait until then or later and find out the only difference is the new Intel chipset, I've pretty much given up on waiting.
The ridiculous thing about all this is that the current MBPs are plenty fast for what I need (occasional video encoding & gaming, mostly internet/e-mail) but there's always that urge to get the most for your buck. -
what could they possibly do to the macbook in the update? its completley perfect the way it is - only thing id suggst is backlit keyboard.
-
-
not to mention the keyboard is not as good as the macbook pro. they should bring back the ibook keyboards.

There is no reason not to buy a MBP right now. While a new CPU may be released by Intel towards the end of the year, it could be January or February before we see it in a Mac. Also, there is nothing else on the horizon as far as GPU, chipset, etc go. I don't forsee a refresh for some time. Get it now.
-
I think Apple will get Penryn into MBP within a few weeks of when Intel launches it (Nov. 11 as currently scheduled). That's because they don't need to redesign anything -- it should be completely compatible so they can just swap in the new CPU and they shouldn't have to do anything else except test it.
-
Actually i'd get a macbook if they'd update to a dedicated GPU... I like the size so that's about my only problems with my current macbook and the reason for my order of the macbook pro unit
anyone waiting for next refresh of MBP?
