    I cannot believe this ...
I had my mbp all set to be shipped at abt the 27th ... and prbbly reaching me by the 30th ... well in time for me to tinker around with it for the long weekend ...
yesterday ... i end up calling a few of the apple stores in the area i live in ... and they were hopeful of getting a few mbp's of my spec sometime in the next 2-3 days ... ofcourse.. upon hearing this i was ecstatic .. but in my mind i was thinking of whehther i'ld be incurring any fines for a cancellation at this stage
hence.. to ease my mind i called up apple ... and explained the position.... and asked him how long i could keep my online order intact without incurring a fine (i wanted to have the online order still going on since i wasnt sure of getting an mbp frm the store) .... unfortunately .. he figured i wanted to cancel... despite me expressly telling him not to ... thrice i remember .... in anycase.. i open my order status page in the night and find that my shipping date mysteriously got postponed to between the 31st and 5th ... and that means shipping between 5th and 11th....
needless to say i was gobsmacked... (pretty hard i might add)..
i just got off the phone... and much to my bemusement.. nothing can be done .... sob sob ... sob ....
travails of procuring my mbp ... :(

I couldn't read through that  :p. But anyways, sorry to hear about the "delay" you're getting, and hopefully you'll get it sooner than expected!

Maybe with this extra time, you can decide to learn a bit more about how to work OS X and maybe browse for accessories for it? Time might fly faster that way :).

    oh trust me sam...
i have been browsing and learning up on stuff ... and getting myslf accessories ... getting an ilap for cooling/keeping the mbp on my lap .. gotten the airport extreme... browsing and thinking on getting the lg desktop wireless combo for mac (it does look awesome i might add) .... and ofcourse a sleeve for the notebook ... pair of good headphones ... so far have set my sights on the sennheiser HD 280 pro ... but it's got a flat bass spectrum .... any other recommendations for headphones? ...
one more thing.. between ntfs and fat 32 file systems that are applicable for the windows partition via bootcamp ... i have the following queries -
    1. what sort of files are going to be 4GB in size ( i mean singe files?) ... even if i were making a dvd.. the .vob files are only .99 gb or the like....
    2. apart from the max single file length... in terms of performance .. (accessing files/programs).. are there any performance differences noticeable between fat32 and ntfs?

Any large video files - Blu-Rays rips come to mind.
Disk images can also be greater than 4GB.
Probably not noticeable...fat32 tends to fragment worse, which indirectly might lead to worse performance in the long run if you let it stay that way.

In theory, NTFS does better in bigger volumes while in smaller volumes it's the other way around.

FAT32 has limits on total volume size, as well as the number of files you can have on the volume (although NTFS can run into the latter problem too because of the idiotic way MS sets up the MFT.)
